I started reading Esther Gokhale's book 8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back. Basically, it advocates better posture when sitting, standing, lying, and walking as a cure to most back ailments and that traditional societies (including Western society until the 20th century) do not have the same problems as contemporary society because they teach and retain proper posture even when sitting, bending over, etc.
