Baseball is baseballing. Over the last couple years I started following baseball again, perhaps as a good break from work, or a bad break from work, or perhaps because my team (the Chicago Cubs) actually started being interesting again.

It seems that, overnight, my lunix installation quit working. i thought maybe the hard drive plonked out under me, but in retrospect, i was having trouble with both drives and even with flash drives. anyway, so i gave up and went to windows because i had work to do.

I'd forgotten that about this town. Growing up, I presumed it was because I was right by the power plant, but we're on the opposite side of town now and we're getting mad dust accumulation.

Print Story could mark zuckerberg be the savior of the GOP?

serious question. he's holding a fundraiser for Chris Christie. the GOP is lacking direction and needs to redefine itself away from its crazy core. Zuckerberg is, like, the first ever young tech billionaire to show interest in any GOP politician ever.

Print Story Might need to do Lunix, may require more storage capacity

Is Linux ready for the desktop?

The only reason I am on Windows right now is that I have a large media collection on a Windows file system and don't really have enough spare capacity to juggle it around and such and have enough space on my system to have both Windows and Lunix on the same system. However, for academic reasons (eg, programming is easier, especially if you're going to start mucking with C stuff), I might have to switch to Lunix, so I'll probably get substantially more hard drive capacity to facilitate this.

Wife's computer destroyed by MBR-eating malware that shut down the machine within 15sec. of trying to run WinXP repair. But the conversion didn't go so well.

Need to recover files.

So I've got a cover of "Don't Worry Baby" stuck in my head. The wifing unit, apparently, doesn't approve of my falsetto attempts to sing along.

So, I lost it. Well, it wasn't a great diary and I might as well take this excuse to get another bout of typing in.

Print Story ubuntuforums < pizza delivery boys

man, i remember when ubuntuforums were a hot bed of useful information. you'd ask a question, you'd get an answer, and it'd be a good one, by god. and if it wasn't, you'd tell 'em so and you'd get a better one.

now you wait a few hours, you don't get anything useful, and you don't even get your god damn money back. they're worse than pizza delivery boys.
