I have four MOAR of them.  In my belly.

Ever since last year's surgery and subsequent sepsis, I've had a number of problems.  Most of those problems have been with swallowing and some super-not-fun bathroom times.

As it turns out, I had gall stones.  Lots of them.  The doctor described my gall bladder as "packed"  Some of them were nearly an inch across.

I went into the emergency room on Monday night, pretty sick.  On Tuesday they cleared my bile duct with a procedure.  On Wednesday I got my gall bladder removed.

Honestly, I think I deserve at least a decade without a procedure that requires general anesthetic.

So that's my week and a painkiller fueled diary.  How was your week?

My Week by anonimouse (4.00 / 1) #1 Thu Sep 11, 2014 at 11:57:06 AM EST
Is going better than yours (so far)

I have had a kidney infection which I don't want to experience again.

I do hope you're back on your feet soon (assuming you're typing this from hospital)

Came back from the final beach weekend of the season on Sunday. Ridden the bike 25 miles Tuesday and yesterday, and that mean looking cold front is disintegrating over West Virginia so I should get in 25 miles today.

So a pretty excellent week. Bonus: No relatives of friends died this week!

Glad to hear you're better, and *that* won't be bothering you any more.

My week by johnny (4.00 / 2) #4 Sat Sep 13, 2014 at 10:02:12 PM EST
I rented an apartment on Long Beach Island, NJ, to work on some writing projects. It's not deserted by any means, but since it's after Labor Day and the summer vacation period is over, about 3/4 of the houses are empty. When I go to the beach, instead of finding 100's of people there, there are about 10.

The water has been very rough because the wind has been very, very strong all week. But that's OK, since I've mostly been inside, writing, and thinking and organizing and trying to ignore the ever-louder tinitus in my ears.

This is the longest uninterrupted time I've had to just think and work in the last 35 years. I'll head home tomorrow. I offer this summary of my great week only in the hopes of distracting you from your sucky week.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. Hope you're on the mend.

That sounds great!

I generally don't do alone time.  I was an only child and lived in a rural area, so I got tons of alone as a kid.

I am on the mend, things are much better.

I knew somebody in college who had to have gallbladder surgery and she definitely described it as not fun.

Here's hoping this is the last of your general anesthetic procedures for as many decades as you can get away with.

My week was definitely better than that, although I've been mopey and low energy by my current baseline standards.

It's been a week now.  Honestly, it wasn't too bad.  Especially compared to last years debacle.  I'm not exhausted, I'm not too limited.  Hell, I even took of the steri-strips today.

What I still can't do is wear jeans.  I've got a hole a half inch north of my belly-button and it gets pushed on too hard when I sit down.  So I've been in sweatpants.

Heh, try not to be mopey.  It doesn't help, but I certainly understand the feeling.
