I really am a winner.

A good friend of mine in the department won as well, which is nice. They give out four awards in two categories in this competition, I got one in the one category, she got one in the other, I don't know what the deal with the other two awards is (they can split however they want). They presumably were won by people elsewhere (gosh, my department doesn't win everything?).

But, really, this is nice. It's generally been won in the past by people in their last year, so, hey, this gives me a chance to pick up multiple awards in my career. really, this is mildly prestigious. it's nice.

I'm surprised that I won, as my results were mediocre and I did not really finish polishing it as much as I should have, given that I kind of quit and slapped it together because my grandmother died the evening before it was due and i had been hoping to pull an allnighter to finish before that happened.

i really need to get that car repaired.
