I'm about a third of the way through this book. I find it hard to pick it up and tedious to read. I don't like or even really care about any of the characters. Everybody tells me I should *LOVE* this book. So far, I've stopped reading it twice.
What the actual fuck am I missing? I freely admit, I don't like dystopias, and this book is clearly set in one. I've been trying to see past that and enjoy it for the story. But I'm not getting it. So far, everybody is more or less insane. They've either acted against their own best interests or have made a life of acting against their own best interests. Yet they still manage to not serve any higher cause than what they personally want, which they seem to pursue despite the damage it does to themselves and those around them. It's like a sci-fi drama done by 20-somethings trying to find themselves in New York.
The aliens and technology are....less than believable. I keep slogging at it. I don't care about spoilers, tell me why I shouldn't just delete this heap off of my poor Kindle.
