That phrase always amused me. However, as it's the Paschal season, it's out of place to bring it up.

Reminder in case you missed it: we're thinking July 14 for ChiHuSiMeet unless there are severe objections from anybody whose opinion matters.

I just finished doing a shoddy job of finishing my numerical analysis work. I kind of wish we had spent a bit more time on numerical linear algebra, as that's the sort of stuff I actually have to know in grad school (and, really, I should spend a little time over the summer really brushing up on linear algebra as well). The other task is to get a little more programming experience, and the machine learning class I plan on taking should do that. Not sure if they're planning on doing Python or Matlab - one of the books uses Python (and numpy in particular), one uses Matlab. I would actually classify myself as moderately experienced in Matlab now, having done a fair bit last fall in the Stanford class and even more this spring in numerical analysis. I had thought of doing some stuff with C over the summer - I even got a couple books for that - but I think that would be a little optimistic on top of this other stuff.

I seem to have misplaced my checkbook. It's somewhere in the house and I had, like, 4 left on that book, so it's not such a big deal, but it's annoying. Yeah, I do still use checks occasionally. Rent, occasional payments to humans, charity, that sort of thing. I use 2-3 per month.

Work is almost less busy.

We wanted fish for dinner yesterday. Just the crappy filet or whatever things, but we would have accepted fish sticks. The small store across the street didn't have them, but they're often out of stuff. The wifing unit was completely unable to find them at the expansive big store. Unsure whether they were out of them or whether they were hidden away in secret places where nobody will ever find them, but that's irrelevant. It's just annoying when feeding has to be stressful rather than easy. Give me convenience or give me death.

Also, www.sagenb.com is great for when you're at work and want to do something involving matrices.

This is mildly amusing, from TheophileEscargot: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/universityeducation/9235996/It-is-only-a-matter-of-time-before-a-Muslim-student-is-physically-assaulted-Muslim-students-condemn-university-alcohol-ban.html. Apparently some school in London is closing their bar or something and the university president said it was in part due to the number of Muslim students. The Muslim student associations said, essentially, "O RLY?"

Arrrr so much stuff to type up. I was actually working on work stuff last night after work. I don't have a highly-paid job or two well-paid jobs, I have a mediocre job, and that means I don't think about work outside of it.
