I'm rereading HMS Surprise on my commute right now. It would be nice if I could get work done on my commute, but it's not really possible on the Blue Line. That was one plus of the Brown Line. I could have a seat and I was on the train for a while without being crowded. On the other hand, sitting sucks. You will get weak and die if you sit too much.
It'll be so nice to be done with all this school crap tomorrow. Though I do like numerical analysis and Clenshaw-Curtis quadrature is pretty cool (any excuse for an FFT), it's cutting into pretty much everything. I'm looking forward to just sitting at home and watching The Wire or something on Thursday. I think I'll have until at least Monday before I start busying myself again.
I just realized: I need to think about when I'm going to go visit Iowa and look for apartments. I'll probably have to do it rather soon. Maybe I'll tie it in with Memorial Day or something. WIFING UNIT, NOTE THIS DOWN SOMEWHERE.
Interesting for writing folks: http://750words.com/ I don't have much use for it, though. It was mentioned by somebody I know who's dissertating in classics.
This month is the last month I'll be contributing money to a bus pass. Dude. Somewhat annoying how the FSA funds that stuff two months in advance.
I don't know why all these things are in the 2003 powerpoint format when I'm working in the 2010 powerpoint. It makes all the graphs from 2010 Excel look fuzzy or something. 2010 Powerpoint is much better than 2003 Powerpoint, while 2010 Excel has certain annoying features. The graphs look tons better, though. What would really be awesome: if I could do graphs that looked like those ones from scientific papers in the 60s. You know, with that one font and all that. http://www.reddit.com/r/LaTeX/comments/mm4kc/where_can_i_find_this_font_that_was_used_in_a_few/ It has to work on others' computers, too, though, so I can't do it that way.
First of May! First of May! ...
I haven't definitely not gotten much done since lunch, so I'm going to pinch off this diary and figure out what I need to do and then do it, because I have a lot of stuff that I'm supposed to be doing.
