King in the North, then!

CHIHUSIMEET: July 14th, I think, then! Mark your calendars. If there are no major objections in the next week, it will be so ordained.

I have a small pile of stuff to finish for class now. Some stuff isn't quite clear on the take-home exam, though, but I'm sure what I put will be adequate. I also worked reasonably late on work stuff and got up reasonably early to work on it some more. I should be in a good position for stuff tomorrow.

I'm rereading HMS Surprise on my commute right now. It would be nice if I could get work done on my commute, but it's not really possible on the Blue Line. That was one plus of the Brown Line. I could have a seat and I was on the train for a while without being crowded. On the other hand, sitting sucks. You will get weak and die if you sit too much.

It'll be so nice to be done with all this school crap tomorrow. Though I do like numerical analysis and Clenshaw-Curtis quadrature is pretty cool (any excuse for an FFT), it's cutting into pretty much everything. I'm looking forward to just sitting at home and watching The Wire or something on Thursday. I think I'll have until at least Monday before I start busying myself again.

I just realized: I need to think about when I'm going to go visit Iowa and look for apartments. I'll probably have to do it rather soon. Maybe I'll tie it in with Memorial Day or something. WIFING UNIT, NOTE THIS DOWN SOMEWHERE.

Interesting for writing folks: http://750words.com/ I don't have much use for it, though. It was mentioned by somebody I know who's dissertating in classics.

This month is the last month I'll be contributing money to a bus pass. Dude. Somewhat annoying how the FSA funds that stuff two months in advance.

I don't know why all these things are in the 2003 powerpoint format when I'm working in the 2010 powerpoint. It makes all the graphs from 2010 Excel look fuzzy or something. 2010 Powerpoint is much better than 2003 Powerpoint, while 2010 Excel has certain annoying features. The graphs look tons better, though. What would really be awesome: if I could do graphs that looked like those ones from scientific papers in the 60s. You know, with that one font and all that. http://www.reddit.com/r/LaTeX/comments/mm4kc/where_can_i_find_this_font_that_was_used_in_a_few/ It has to work on others' computers, too, though, so I can't do it that way.

First of May! First of May! ...

I haven't definitely not gotten much done since lunch, so I'm going to pinch off this diary and figure out what I need to do and then do it, because I have a lot of stuff that I'm supposed to be doing.

Fifteen year old turns sixteen on the 13th, so on the 14th she can chauffeur us around the various wineries, with her learner's permit.

Every time I see your CHIHUSImeet thing I'm reminded of that awful commercial about "Choosy Moms choose $product".

That is all.

I now know what the noise that is usually spelled "lolwhut" sounds like. --Kellnerin

July 14th is iffy by LoppEar (2.00 / 0) #5 Tue May 01, 2012 at 06:22:59 PM EST
We'll be in town but have tickets to Pitchfork. I gather that's sort of over in your direction at least (Union Park). Depending on whether gy!be is the closing act (likely, unfortunately) we might be out of there in time for dinner, otherwise if anyone is doing 10pm drinks I'm sure we'll be there.

Definitely free to do pre or post gatherings Friday or Sunday for anyone who's in town. And it's not like we've got a lot of alternate weekends to propose, at least we know we'll be in Chicago for this one. :)

Crikey, I forgot it's pitchfork. by gzt (2.00 / 0) #7 Tue May 01, 2012 at 07:56:01 PM EST
Yeah, we'll definitely have some people meeting up on Friday or Sunday or something at least. Did any of the other proposed dates in last week's diary sound better? Because it seemed to me like they all worked for other people or something, so I grabbed this date because it was BASTILLE DAY.

I missed that earlier diary, this is indeed the best weekend from those. Onward ChiHusi!
