I wound a few things down, so now I have a little less stress. I turned in all my outstanding homework in numerical analysis, I'd been sitting on one or two problems for weeks.

My big trip starts next week. Just going out to ND and PA and back. Considering stopping at the monastery on the way back, too. It's a long drive. But might want to go home.

Had a lunch for retiring coworker yesterday at Grand Lux. Good stuff. Had miso glazed salmon. Coworker will be missed, seems extremely happy about retiring.

Reading Praise of Folly. Good stuff.

The "I" vs "O" SU problem is going to be a rough choice. Namely, it's hard to turn down a free $4K. I am a man who can be bought easily when my salary goes to a third of its current amount. That and, if I were to think of a summer internship, "O" has options that wouldn't require relocating for the summer, whereas "I" is a desolate wasteland, I'd have to go at least to Des Moines, a 45 minute drive. Of course, this could be fixed by not doing internships. And, of course, "P" might get thrown into the mix. So I just won't think about it until I get back from my trip. Still, this is a good problem to have. I would've been happy if I just had the, "Aw, crap, I only got into this shitty school," problem, as I would have been willing to go to any of the schools I applied to.

I've served my sentence, but committed no crime.

I answered some random computer science/programming question on the internet today about operator precedence based on what I read in K&R last night before falling asleep. Am I a hacker yet?

I'm having a quesadilla lunch. UPDATE: I had a quesadilla lunch.

I am particularly ill-equipped to prepare things for the conversion to the new AAP software. Hmph.

I just joined the Chicago R User Group. They have monthly meetings.

Might have a chess on Tuesday. Haven't been playing well. We got approval to have it at the office, though, which is nice. Aw crap that's when the retirement cocktails thing is. Okay, Sonny had better not be down for the count...

i hate the crowds of young drinkers. they muck up traffic. prefer older drinkers. i may consider spending time in a bar far from downtown and the river, though.
