we were in the middle of watching a movie. fortunately, the storm brought the temperature a bit, so by opening the windows we were able to live without the AC until the power kicked on again.

However, going to sleep with the power out was a little problematic, as there was no airflow in the bedroom. Fortunately, the power kicked on half an hour after I went to bed.

When I got up in the morning, there were a few branches on the ground. Nothing too thick, but often a fairly substantial proportion of the tree's total foliage. I think this is the third time we've lost power this summer. A couple week ago the tree across the street lost a big branch that must have been a third of its foliage and it was quite thick.

So we're moving soonish. haven't gotten things nailed down.

I'm going through my books and getting rid of a bunch. We're getting rid of some redundant stuff and some fiction that we're not going to get around to re-reading. I mean, Sons and Lovers is okay, but we don't need to keep it. Ditto for a lot of old fiction we probably got at a library book sale. We're selling some and donating some. Basically, anything that I can get something more than a dollar from amazon from I'm thinking of selling (less than a dollar and the commissions eat too far into the shipping fee to make it a break-even proposition).

We are getting rid of approx. two shelves of books (one entire shelf is a set of decorative books, so that's not so impressive). I'm also going to finally gut out those old computers that I kept around because they had a couple useful spare parts. I will also clean out my wardrobe a little.

I am glad that it is no longer hot.

So I'm back to more regular training, I hope. None of this irregular training for me anymore. The downside is that I am now terribly sore. The effect should go away in a week or two. Until then, going down stairs is complicated. I'm starting off very light so that terrible soreness doesn't turn into crippling soreness.

I sucked in a chess game on chess.com recently. It sucked. The game is still going on. I should lose, but there might be a way to swindle a draw if he's not careful.

So I think I'm going to win my section in that round robin chess tournament we've been playing with a round every two weeks. I have one game left and I am 7-0 so far. The guy I'm playing has lost only one game, but has more games left.

I'm taking a class on data mining this fall. Should be fun.

We watched New Moon with RiffTrax at somebody's birthday party the other day. It was rather funny. Unfortunately, I walked away with far more knowledge of the Twilight universe that I ever wanted and am scarred for life by the vision of a topless Edward Cullen. He was more emaciated than some medieval paintings of St Francis of Assisi.

Also, quite seriously, are the Republicans intentionally destroying the economy in the hopes a new world order will arise?

While researching whether a mishap with coffee and baking soda would be life threatening, I discovered that baking soda is not only a performance enhancer but helps eliminate soreness due to muscle exertion.

make Obama a one term president.

Protecting the Union, serving constituents, that's all small potatoes.

will take old computer parts off your hands and turn them into free / cheap computers for someone else. If they're not useable, they'll recycle them.
