So I got put in charge of some thingie or whatever about a month ago, it usually involves fiddling with stuff every quarter and then sending stuff to the government and I'm getting training on using the software next week, but somebody just asked me a question about the capabilities of the software to be used outside of that specific context, so I felt a little silly and had to say, "I honestly have no idea based on your vague description of your problem and the inputs they're considering providing whether I would be able to do that. I may be able to say at some point next week if you give me the specific inputs you're considering." All I really know right now is how to go from mess of queries we get out of peoplesoft to the specific shiny results from this system that the government wants - anything outside of that context at this moment is going to be complete conjecture.
I won my chess game in the CICL tournament on Monday. This means I will probably win my section. He was the one I was mildly worried about. He's my coworker. We went over the game at lunch today and he confessed that, once he was down, he started playing for traps instead of playing the best moves. I absolved him of his sin, but the chess results don't lie. That's the way to lose. I also won that game on chess.com against the player that was a lot stronger than me - he's just below master level. I don't know if I've mentioned it on Husi, but I also played in a tournament on Sunday and did fairly well. I beat a player rated 400 points above me and a player rated 300 points above me. So, in short, I've been doing pretty well lately. There are a couple other tournaments coming up soon, so I might drop by, especially as I have a car now.
As long as the wifing unit doesn't mind my being absent a little bit on some weekends. I'm going to be traveling without her this week...
I haven't trained in a while. Life is too busy.
