Mother-in-law coming to visit this weekend. I'm disappearing for most of today.

Fun graph: http://wonkroom.thinkprogress.org/2010/08/26/fox-mehlman/ If it were a Democrat, how would it be different? It may be very different. On the other hand, why are the other networks talking about it so much? Can't a man be gay in peace?

Teh Wife has me reading Denialism. She just read it herself. Maybe now I can throw away that bottle of useless echinacea she's had. It's fascinating stuff. The commentary about alternative medicines is great. I didn't realize Tom Harkin, who I typically think is a decent politician, is a big supporter of alternative medicine crap, which definitely takes him down a notch in my estimation. At least Prince Charles dresses well, you know?

I am very ashamed of the typo I made in the title of my last diary. "Dauther"? Really, gzt? Really?

This Indian restaurant nearby used to have an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet for a reasonable price, I should check out whether they still have it. It was hidden in the basement of a hotel.

Our state fair is a great state fair.

Just heard there's a powerlifting meet quite close to my parents' place - on the line between here and there - in December, definitely thinking about doing it. It's right after Thanksgiving, near finals, etc etc, so I might not, but it's good to consider. I might be up to a 500# squat and should be over a 500# deadlift by then.

I wish this sort of thing were actually acceptable: http://www.utilikilts.com/company/products/kilts/mocker/ And didn't look fruity. I don't wish too hard, though. And FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU that's nearly $200.

And... Time for lunch.

Teh Gays! by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #1 Fri Aug 27, 2010 at 03:17:13 PM EST
I guess the big deal is that Mehlman may have been the architect for the "Defense of Marriage" part of Bush's 2004 re-election campaign, inciting the fear of "teh geys" to get the moral conservatives out to vote. I don't really get Log Cabin Republicans.

I'd like a Utilikilt, I have the legs for it, and I'd like the feeling of my parts swinging in the breeze. They are expensive, even on ebay.

are only acceptable if you have a copy of Atlas Shrugged in one of the pockets and think of yourself as sort of a cross between Lazarus Long and John Galt, only with an asian fetish.
