Teh Wife and I went up to Wisconsonia to see an opera (Hansel and Gretel) put on by a couple friends and their operatic friends in the middle of nowhere. It was good times. ALL ABOARD THE OPERA TRAIN. It was supposed to be outdoors or something, but it was raining.

Google gave us terrible directions to get back. It had us get off the freeway and drive through part of Milwaukee for no good reason. There were stoplights and speed limits. Another part that wasn't bad but should have been altered by us based on the circumstances: in Illinois, to avoid tolls, we got off 94 and took 41. However, there are parts of 41 that are prone to flooding and it had been raining heavily all evening. The roads were still passable, but I would have been willing to pay tolls in this circumstance. But seriously, why aren't rental cars fitted with I-PASS thingies that will charge back to your account when you're done? Zipcar has the right idea about this.

The newly-released 2010 AP Stylebook is not on Amazon. Annoying. Need to get it because Teh Wife is doing freelance proof-reading. Also annoying: new Chicago Manual of Style is being released August 1st. Do we need to get the current one now anyway? Probably.

Free She and Him show tonight. It's right across the street from the office, so may as well show up. I think I'll buy a pair of shorts while at lunch and wear them to the concert. My other shorts are a little tight right now.

Dental woes: Teh Wife got a filling and her tooth has been bugging her since.

Beer: we picked up a sampler pack of New Glarus on our way back in from Wisconsonia. Quick glance showed no porters or stouts in the pack :(. But it's good stuff.

I've been reading . It's addictive. Mostly mediocre, occasionally hilarious. Reminds me of how awkward I was in high school. Oh, hey, baseball game bad date. I also liked this quote from a different one that, in its entirety, isn't worth linking to, so I won't:

Monica has painstakingly removed each item from her BLT, and is currently arranging the ingredients in alphabetical order on her plate. My turkey sandwich, still all in one piece, tastes all the better, for some reason.

"Monica, are you planning on eating your food-formerly-known-as-sandwich?"

She shoots me a look that would emasculate an elephant. "Casey thought it was cute when I did this."

She leans back and crumples into herself, darkly. "My former boyfriend."

"Oh. You know what's funny?"

"The fact that I'm not Casey."

I like life.

I like The Seven Storey Mountain. I gave it to Teh Wife to read because I think she would like it and find it helpful. At the least, it will give us another common point of reference for discussion, because I think about a few things from it often. It's a quality book, kids.

What If Political Scientists Covered the News?

And that's a wrap, cadets.

I just take our EZ-PASS with me by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #1 Mon Jun 07, 2010 at 02:10:47 PM EST
if I'm driving a rental and anticipate tolls.

don't have one by gzt (2.00 / 0) #2 Mon Jun 07, 2010 at 02:13:50 PM EST
because I don't have a car and therefore don't typically need one. I drive rarely enough that it's rarely an issue.

I can add additional vehicles online, I'm not sure about adding rental vehicles.

I packed sweatshirts and blankets (for sitting or wrapping up in) for my gf and I for tonight.

I have your cell# via the magic of internet stalking, and will text when I'm in millenium park.

I forget where I ever put my cell on facebook. Probably some event. I'll probably not get shorts, then.
