I'll be in San Francisco and free between Friday 16th and Sunday 18th April, next week. So anyone want to meet up and have suggestions for where and when? Saturday 17th seemed to fit the majority of people, but we didn't arrange anything definite.

Prequel in the Castle series of fantasy novels,
with the immortal Jant/Comet falling in love.
Didn't really get into it. Jant appears to be a whiny angst-ridden teenager, though he's supposedly in his nineties by this time. Even without the immortality, you'd think that his tough early life would give him more of a sense of proportion about things.
No big battle scenes with the Insects in this one. Had some political intrigue which started out well, but got resolved rather too easily in the end. Lightning and Jant just ordered the soldiers to dismantle the rogue fortress and they just did it.
Might work better for people who like angsty romances, but I didn't like it much.
