And, Music! Music! Music.

Remember the MFC XVII ??

So, I'm sooooo excited. Yes, that's right, soooo excited. I am to travel on a tiny trip to Texas (love that alliteration you know you do!). Even though it is a tiny trip, my excitement is large. It has been SO long (I capped that for effect, do you feel it?) since I have traveled by myself. I get to be me!

Also I get to make music with my favourite super talented musician guy and hopefully sing with a totally talented singing guy (you know these Texan boys). I mean, as  a musician singer chick, it like, couldn't be more up my alley.

Also I get to see good friends and meet sweet children (whom I will eat of course)!! Yays!

Also a delightful, helpful lady is going to make delicious things for me. For me!!! Someone else, is going to make things, for me! This includes the phenomenal secondary of me NOT HAVING to make food for three other people, and figure out what it is they maybe, might possibly, want..if it's good. I will relish every moment my friends. Every moment.

Also, what the hey with the MFC XVII? That's not ever front paged or anything (unless I'm crazy but I don't think so and if not fix that would you please?) I didn't even know about it till ana told me, which leads into the next sentence. I'm hoping to do something for the MFC while in the great state of Texas (to which I have never been by the by) visiting with said music type person and his lovely wife. I thought it would be neat. I wonder if we'll get our acts together enough to do that. Hahaha… I think I'll start writing lyrics tonight… football eh?

Oh yeah, about other people, Popsicle is also going on a trip. To my half-brother's mansion in the Colorado mountains and his ranch with exquisite horses near by. My dad is taking her; it was his idea that she go with him and he paid for the ticket. She is over the moon excited as she totally loved my brother when he visited a couple of months ago. She has her own luggage and everything. She's a real person. I am very excited for her too, I know she's gonna have an AWESOME time.

The boys will be left here on their own for a wee bit. I think it will be absolutely splendid, the little man is very taken with his daddy at this great age of four. It will be so nice for them to get to spend some man time together. I think they are both looking forward to it.

Write in poll: What should we sing/record? What would you want to sing/record if you were here with us?

trying to figure out what to play / record. I've asked other people. I have no idea, though.

But I'll be there. I won't know what to play, but I'll be there.

Too much awesome.

Except, we need a time machine to get '88 Hetfield. Modern Hetfield doesn't have the pipes for it.

littlestar does though, I reckon. by Breaker (2.00 / 0) #54 Thu Apr 22, 2010 at 10:43:57 PM EST
However, a suitable backing track needs to be arranged.

With acoustics, or perhaps a Schecter turned down with a little gentle reverb, a touch of phase and enough OD to make the strings bounce.

This week I went out to lunch with a good friend, who is more of a cheesy quaver and holds no agenda for Metallica, or indeed, guitar based music.

Some RnB cover of "Nothing Else Matters"

"It's not right, and it's not good" was his verdict.

NFB - OD + LS == Awesome, I reckon.

Schecter's in a bad state right now by nightflameblue (2.00 / 0) #55 Fri Apr 23, 2010 at 02:12:06 PM EST
Add some sanding and it's pretty much like that. Aside from which, I'm kinda stuck for time. Trying to do too much with too little at the moment. Up every day at 4:30 AM, in bed by around 8:30 PM, and a whole lot of flailing in between.

Be a nice thing to try someday when I have a few minutes though.

I've soldered better than that with by nightflameblue (2.00 / 0) #59 Tue Apr 27, 2010 at 05:21:17 PM EST
nothing more than a lighter to melt the solder. Ask my Ibanez. My old iron burned out and I didn't have any patience for going to buy a new one, so out came the lighter.

Oh, BTW, don't ever use a cold heat soldering iron. Waste of money.

I know I promised you guys more lyrics like, three months ago, but I might be able to swing together something special for the occasion.

Also, littlestar did a fantastic a capella rendition of that SF-country song I wrote with you in mind way back when, so maybe that could be resurrected...

Who knew. It made me feel funny at the time cause I rarely shared music I had made with very many people then. I was gonna write to ask you about it (whenever that was years ago) but felt like that would be super stupid cause all you could say then was that it was fine or whatever. Hahaha... I am glad to know that you thought it was ok; I sort of always thought it had potential, I liked singing it.

the selection is a good one.

Proud Mary
Get It While You Can
Gershwin's Summertime

Or, failing that, how about some other Texans like ... um ... Buddy Holly or Roy Orbison.

I'll bet you could make an awesome cover of some Tex Beneke things.

Or Selena. Or Beyonce.

Or Butthole Surfers.

Proud Mary would be fun to do with the group to be sure! I am thinking I could do a neat version of Get It while You can.. that could be fun for sure, if I don't do that this weekend I may just log that with clock for later. I think I would like to do it really soft.. hmmm... And, Summertime, well, that's just a fine, fine song. I have used that  for warm up song, could be cool to try and record.
