I remember on my honeymoon trying to watch Day Watch and giving up after 5 minutes. Because it was a bad movie.

I brought that up because somebody mentioned Night Watch elsewhere. Don't watch that movie.

I am usually not like this, but I sent in my taxes on the deadline. Especially since I am owed several hundred dollars. I want that money now!

I am hungry. And I will squat tonight.

I like the taxonomical name for the Western Lowland Gorilla: Gorilla gorilla gorilla.

Something that is not atypical for me: I finished off my homework for class about 10 minutes before class. It just needed some finishing touches on the calculations. It was pretty good how it all came together, though. It's like the math is meant to work out. Looking back, though, I think I made a slight mistake on it somewhere, because one of the series just does not converge. Then again, the process isn't stationary, so perhaps it shouldn't. Oh well. I'll see how the grade comes out.

I'm going to pick up heavy things tonight. Woooo. I might do some light snatching to warm up, and I'm doing presses, but I'm otherwise not doing anything too heavy overhead. No jerks. I may do deadlifts today.

I'm trying hard to care at work.

Surprisingly, that site is not blocked (yet). Liek I need more distractions at work.

Night Watch/Day Watch by nightflameblue (2.00 / 0) #3 Fri Apr 16, 2010 at 03:29:55 PM EST
Those movies are only good if you see them in close proximity in the order they're supposed to be seen. As far as horror/weird goes, they're pretty darned good when seen together. They definitely bring the weirdness. But if you watch the wrong one first? You'll think it's just a clusterfuck of fail. Which it looks like you did.

Wonder if the third movie will ever get made?

No, we watched them in the right order by gzt (2.00 / 0) #4 Fri Apr 16, 2010 at 03:36:49 PM EST
and in close proximity. But, you know, we only gave it like 5-10 minutes before giving up.

Don't watch Day Watch. Night Watch is good. I brought up Day Watch because somebody mentioned Night Watch. Don't watch Day Watch.

Night Watch was okay... by MartiniPhilosopher (2.00 / 0) #6 Fri Apr 16, 2010 at 04:40:28 PM EST
if you hadn't read the book. The movie kept leaving out the explanations for everything. And then the deus ex to get out of the storm was disappointing.

Did you even get through the intro scene? by nightflameblue (2.00 / 0) #7 Fri Apr 16, 2010 at 05:28:56 PM EST

Honestly, that intro had very little to do with the actual meat of the movie aside from a little setup. Something to get the plot nerds all riled up and going, "YES NOW IT MAKES SENSE!" late in the film.

I skipped these because they look too Russian. by ammoniacal (2.00 / 0) #9 Fri Apr 16, 2010 at 11:09:24 PM EST
I really hate shitty Russian acting and FX.

The last Russian film I enjoyed was Battleship Potemkin.

Isn't that Eisenstein? by lm (2.00 / 0) #12 Sun Apr 18, 2010 at 06:07:36 PM EST
It's certainly not Tarkovsky.

For a brief moment I was confusing it with Potemkin, the Musical!

the score is important by gzt (2.00 / 0) #15 Mon Apr 19, 2010 at 09:46:12 AM EST
or, at least, was supposed to be. they wanted it redone every 20 years so the whole thing would remain relevant. I've only heard whatever version came on the DVD, I think it was Shostakovich.

I usually watch movies without sound by lm (2.00 / 0) #18 Mon Apr 19, 2010 at 05:23:47 PM EST
But, yes, the score does make a difference.

It's just that there are few times and places where I'm in a position to watch a movie with the sound turned up to a level where I can properly enjoy it.

That sounds interesting. by ammoniacal (2.00 / 0) #16 Mon Apr 19, 2010 at 12:34:17 PM EST
Have you seen it? Is it worth the effort?
Is it better than Glee?

Pretty much anything is better than Glee by lm (4.00 / 1) #17 Mon Apr 19, 2010 at 05:21:58 PM EST
I'll allow that there are a few things not better than Glee but they're few and far between.
