Elections next year by jump the ladder (4.00 / 0) #1 Thu Nov 11, 2010 at 02:57:59 PM EST
No chance. The Coalition has a sizeable majority and the Lib-dems will get slaughtered if they were up for re-election next year. This student thing is not the breaker of Govts.

Likes having the Lib-Dems in the govt as it puts the brakes on the nutter element of his party. And as Lib-Dems have rolled over on key policies like tuition fees and welfare reform, why does he want to upset them?

Not enough links (and come on, Penny Red and Johan Hari ?), no swearing, little opinion.

Why do you think there will be elections next year?

If I were either of the Cleggerons, I'd put the grief up front (as they've almost done), keep my head down for 4 years, give some semblance of tax cuts then call the election.

For the record, I've not been impressed by the Coalition Of Necessity in the last month or so, but I've not summoned the rage that the last government invoked.

Yet.

Did you read Hari's article? by Tonatiuh (2.00 / 0) #6 Fri Nov 12, 2010 at 05:22:35 AM EST
That is not opinion.

It is documentary.

And prophetic.

Read his recent column about Dubai, chilling stuff conveyed coherently and with the necessary amount of rage.

Yes I did. by Breaker (2.00 / 0) #7 Fri Nov 12, 2010 at 06:20:22 AM EST
Did you read my link?  Hari's got form.

That said, if even half of what Hari claims is true then that's a terrible way to run a council.
