I was wondering today why there are so many places called "union station". My hypothesis was that it had to do with a number of train companies having a common station, a "union station".

The answer is that I am right. This is an American thing, mostly, because in a lot of places the railroads were nationalized.

Test next week, then things get into a boring theoretical part of stats for a little bit (as opposed to the exciting theoretical part or the boring/exciting practical parts). Fortunately, I'm pretty good at proving things, unlike most of these jokers, so I'll rock that when we get to it.

Awesome article about Michelson and Morley: http://www.laphamsquarterly.org/voices-in-time/norman-maclean-learns-from-the-master.php?page=all U of C for the win. I know all these places!

Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss. We won't get fooled again.

Got a wedding invite. Saturday after Thanksgiving. We'll actually be back in time for it. But, c'mon, who gets married on a holiday weekend? I'm okay with it, though we'll not be out late.

Still waiting. Later this week.

It ain't bragging if it's true. Yes, sir, yes, sir. Mohammed Ali said that back when he was Cassius Clay. I was ordering something on amazon and decided to get a used copy of that CD for $0.95 plus shipping.

Gotta finish a revised draft of a presentation.

Gotta do homework after work.

Gotta train after work.

One good thing about being enrolled in classes: profs keep passing on info about jorb openings. Toward the end of the semester, I'll be in a position to post for them.

I reclaimed my side of the bed last night.

My first guess is it's like the UNION keyword in SQL. It's where all the various lines come together. I would think Europe would have something similar. Even with nationalized railroads, many countries would still need a union because they're served by more than one sort of line. But it could be that the light rail, heavy rail, commuter rail, etc. all run on the same lines.

Kindness is an act of rebellion.

Is Location name Junction ie: Clapham Junction which is where a huge number of rail lines meet just outside central London. There's other junction stations such as Effingham Junction.
