The girls and I spent NYE at the Porsches', they're both teachers, so there was plenty of booze (I had a few glasses of wine and some champagne, I couldn't find the Scotch). My wife stayed home, she wasn't feeling social. We stayed until 1:30, the oldest was having too much fun with duets on Sing It! and didn't want to leave.
I've watched one college football game this season, but it was Penn State in the Capital One also ran bowl, they won, barely. They looked great the first half, not so great the second, but they won. That last personal penalty against LSU was a bit much, I still think they could have won without it. I was also playing a Battle of the Bulge wargame (the Americans beat the Nazi Huns), it was like guy heaven, aside from not drinking any beer.
Thankfully syfy kept on playing Twilight Zones until late New Years Day, so Mrs. Ha and I had our chance to sip faux-Bailey's and watch Twilight Zones.
My wife's family had their holiday party Saturday, and with that complete, the Holiday Season is just about done. The party was at my sister-in-law's, out in a little hamlet a few miles south of a rural town (Albion) midway between Buffalo and Rochester. As half the family lives in Buffalo, it's a convenient meeting place.
One surprise was the profusion of sushi, I brought some, one SIL brought a lot, and a baby-daddy-in-law bought some. Mostly California rolls, and some tuna and shrimp rolls.
The bigger surprise was my mother-in-law, the SIL sprung her out of the dementia ward for the evening, she appeared to enjoy being there.
The gathering was fun, way too much food, including two kinds of gumbo, and lots of chaos. The hosting SIL wanted to do Dirty Santa, but only told us, so there were only about 10 gifts to play Dirty Santa with, but we had a lot of fun with that.
The drive home sucked, cold, snowy, blowing snow, such that it was hard to stay in a lane, or tell where a lane was. We got home about 11:30.
There's been a lot of snow this week, shoveling nearly every day, and watching amazingly as my Tercel slowly digs out of thick heavy snowplow drifts (it spins the front tires and shimmies sideways until it finds traction).
A busy weekend planned, a Lego themed birthday party tonight for one of eight year old's friends, to which I'm invited too, since I like Lego. We're taking the tree down tomorrow, there's Girl Scout ice skating tomorrow, Mrs. Ha wants to throw out stuff and organize so we may go to Target and get some storage units, lots and lots to do.
