Print Story I decided to take a day off.

Well, not off of work. I got up this morning and thought, ugh, I have a few dings and I didn't sleep well. So I took another hour in bed instead of going to the gym. I go every other day and want to get at least three days per week in, so I can take a day off every once in a while without actually getting behind.

I won't make it up this evening, you know, since I'm just going to hang out with R. I think we'll make it very low impact. I want to sit out in a park. It seems like a nice day for that. Just grab a sandwich and eat in a park. Walk down by the lake. Oh, dammit: looks like rain.

I'll try to make today at work pretty non-stressful, too. I have a couple reports to do. Some visionary thinking, strategy, etc, plus some technical wizardry. It's actually not that bad of a day. It's the stuff that has potential to be fun. And my meeting got cancelled. So - relaxation.

So DonutTunes did not want to take the music off of my DonutPod and put it onto my newly-wiped computer. I used Winamp to do it. Suck it, Donut Wheel!

Why can't it be socially acceptable for women to wear sensible shoes? I was just thinking about how it would be nice to walk along the lakeshore once I picked R up from work today but then realized that might not be very feasible, shoes being what they are.

My parents, my future mother-in-law, and two of R's teenaged sisters will be in town at some point next week. I need to think about what we're all going to do, since the lot of us need to do something together. Y'know.

or even

There are plenty of reasonable shoes that women can wear to basically any job, unless she is a stripper.

The only problem you're likely to run into is if it's her, rather than society, that likes the unreasonable shoes.

She should have some walking/running shoes. Or, better, some shoes that she could walk and run in (one should not run in running shoes, they aren't really made for it). And be able to wear them around a bit.

it's just the same thing from the opposite side by 256 (2.00 / 0) #3 Thu Jul 23, 2009 at 01:13:18 PM EST
no one would look too terribly askance at a woman wearing a pair of these shoes with jeans or slacks out and about. You probably couldn't wear them to work, but then, most men can't get away with wearing athletic shoes to work anyway.

I actually wear athletic shoes to work... by gzt (2.00 / 0) #4 Thu Jul 23, 2009 at 01:39:07 PM EST
...but I have a couple pairs of loafers at my desk to change into if I should need to look presentable. It's rare, since most interaction with my colleagues is by video conference. Well, anyway. Don't worry, something like that is on the agenda in the not-too-long term - but there are so many other things on the agenda, what with a wedding in 87 days.
