Sunday we went to Buffalo for my mother in law's birthday party. I ended up talking with a niece quite a bit, it's odd to talk to her as a adult when I remember her as a kindergartner, but having kids will age you. Another niece her age still seems like a kid, even though she graduated college and has a good job. In other family news, Aunt FLo is visiting again, she hasn't visited since February.
I finished Cornelius Ryan's The Last Battle, about the fight for Nazi Berlin in the spring of 1945. If there was justice in the world, Munich would have been ravished by the Russians, not Berlin, it's a pretty sad in how the rear echelon Russians took their revenge.
TMC had biker movie night earlier this week, we watched the end of The Wild One, and then got sucked into The Born Losers, which is the first Billy Jack movie. Somewhat based on a highly publicized Hell's Angel rape case in Monterey, it's about how a biker gang terrorizes a small resort town. Billy Jack, who is supposed to be an Indian, stands up to them at first (he's a crack one handed rifle shot), but gets a higher fine for defending some stupid driver than the bikers get for beating the driver up. Later the bikers gang rape some young teenage girls, including bikini wearing Yamaha 2-stroke riding Vicky (Elizabeth James), and attempt to prevent them from testifying. Billy finally steps in to help Vikcy. The bad biker gang weren't the usual black leather clad Nazi wannabees, but more like hippies on bikes, but this was made in 1967, and did use an actual gang (much like Mad Max). For a revenge pic, it was relatively restrained, but then it was early in the genre. I have to track down the next movie, Billy Jack. One thing about writing, producing, directing and starring in your own movie, you can let yourself be the only decent man in it.
Other than the obvious, not too much planned this weekend. Tomorrow we may get a break from the kids for last minute shopping, as Mrs. Ha hasn't had much a break in the last two weeks. Maybe we'll break in Catan, too.
