Every once in a while I look to see whether there's any place nearby where they have the vaccine. Still nothing close.

Speaking of which, I seem to be developing a cold or something. Again. Dammit.

They're having a healthy baking contest or something at work. I'll resist the urge to make bacon baklava, if only because I couldn't have it.

Emma: pretty decent so far.

I'm so ready to be out of this building and back into the headquarters. The only downside is that it will be a lot less private.

I've been eating heavy because I've been lifting heavy. I'm a pound heavier every time I step into the gym. I may want to cut back slightly, just on the sugars, until I really need the extra energy (ie, when progress on the lifts, not bodyweight, slows). Still trying for plenty of fat and protein, though. I've been roughtly sketching it out, I've been averaging a little less than 6000 calories/day for a while. I get very hungry at breakfast. After that, not really, unless I eat lunch late.

Why can't I sleep well? I even stole some of my wife's melatonin last night. Improving my breathing helped a bit, but I'm still not satisfied. Maybe if we got some good blackout curtains. Perhaps that's what's missing. Hell, maybe I'll try a sleep mask. It's $8, what's the worst that can happen? Answer: it'll infect my eye and make me go blind. Second worst: it won't work and I still won't sleep well AND I'm out $8.

I'd better go eat lunch. Burrito and a quart of milk.

You can't get the vaccine yet? by marvin (2.00 / 0) #1 Tue Dec 08, 2009 at 02:24:48 PM EST
Here in the socialist workers paradise north of the 49th parallel, our inefficient and bureaucratic big-government taxpayer-funded medical system procured enough vaccine for everyone. There haven't even been any real line-ups at the clinics for the past week or two. After finishing the high priority and high risk groups in my area by mid-November, the flu vaccination clinics have been open to anyone for the past two weeks.

For most people, their arm has hurt for a day or two; for me it felt like it had been punched. Punched. Really. Hard. I also felt a bit of fatigue, and nearly fell asleep at my desk the next day. That's pretty normal for me though, so I might not be able to blame it on the vaccine.

Now settle down and be quiet so that we don't have to come and burn your White House down again.

They're all in Switzerland. The govt. ordered 13 million doses. There's only about 8 million live here.

two dose advice by Merekat (2.00 / 0) #8 Wed Dec 09, 2009 at 03:20:48 AM EST
It was originally thought 2 doses were needed but apparently one is enough. Plus it isn't a compulsory vaccination so some people simply chose not to get one.

I'm the sort who will only go get one once it's available at retail pharmacies instead of from one's health care provider. So, since it's not ubiquitous yet, I don't have it. Since it's bugging me enough to web-log about it, I suppose I should give them a call and see if they have any available, because I am in the second tier of eligibility.

My health care provider by ad hoc (2.00 / 0) #6 Tue Dec 08, 2009 at 03:15:28 PM EST
ran a clinic for seasonal. I just happened to be there for my regular quarterly event and they happened to be in stock. But then, I'm in the first tier of eligibility so maybe it wasn't available to everyone.
