I was thwarted yesterday because there were no places stocking quarts of egg nog. Today, I was not thwarted. I have become transhuman.
I grabbed Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Chronicle of a Death Foretold on the way out the door today, but I didn't bother to start reading it on train. I was just not in a literate mood. So I listened to Stan Rogers on the train - surprise!
Last night: burritos. Mmm.
I started sweating profusely after finishing off that egg nog, but I'm back to normal. It took, like, half an hour to recover. Anyway, all this eating had better be helping me get stronger.
I'm rolling down to old Maui.
I'm considering taking ZMA or zinc and magnesium separately just as an experiment. I'm not the best sleeper in the world and I hear enough anecdotal evidence about it that indicates I should consider it. The theory is that most people in the west are zinc and magnesium deficient, particularly active people, and this may interfere with sleep. Or something. It just somehow makes you sleep better. Special bonus: many people comment that they get crazy dreams on ZMA. Of course, ideally, I'd get these nutrients from vegetable sources in my diet. Of course, fuck you. I'm not, you know, big on pills or anything, I haven't been taking my fish oil religiously and ran out of my daily multivitamin. But, well, some things are worth a shot and I like sleeping. But, you know, and here's the key: I shouldn't vary too many things at once because then I don't know which things are working and which aren't. Anyway. I'll drop into the pharmacy on the ground floor and see how much it is. If it's not too much, I hope my wife won't mind if I do some SCIENCE.
