We did a few garage sales last weekend, the newspapers were having one, as well as a few others on their street. I split on Alyson Hannigan. One very cool sale had seasons 6 and 7 of Buffy, I passed since I'm the only Buffy fan in the house, and I can get them from the library. I did get Reaper Man (more below), you rarely see Pratchett at a yard sale, so I had to get it. A suburban sale had American Wedding for $2 bucks, so I got that.
Speaking of garage sales, what's a good price for an Imac that will run OSX, and which Imacs will run OSX, and how do you tell without booting it up? I've been seeing Imacs (the blue bubbly ones) lately at garage sales. I guess without a legal motorcycle (still no inspection), I'm questioning my masculinity.
In an expansion of my meme of Rochester is a small city, western New York is a small region. n a conference call the other day I found out a co-worker knows my sister-in-law, his girlfriend is in the same building as my inlaw. Too small.
I finished Klosterman's Fargo Rock City: A Heavy Metal Odyssey in Rural North Dakota a few weeks ago, but forgot a review. It's an entertaining bunch of essays on growing up in a small town in North Dakota in the late 80's as a metalhead. It even motivated me to dig out my old Blizzard tape to listen to in my car, sadly I wore out the good songs playing Crazy Train as a youth, it's no longer listenable. My parents bought me Diary and Bark at the Moon CDs at garage sales, I'll keep Diary and sell Bark at our garage sale tomorrow.
I also finished Reaper Man, where DEATH takes a holiday, and we see Mrs. Cake. If you like your discworld with lots of wizards, it's a good one for that. There wasn't enough Vimes, so I started rereading Men at Arms.
My family and other animals was a BBC TV adaption of a British family who moves to Corfu for the weather a few years prior to WWII. The scenery was nice, the mom was in over her head, but it was an enjoyable lightweight movie.
As I alluded to, we're hosting a garage sale tomorrow. I was halfheartedly into it, thinking it would be a good way to get rid of a nice but bland stereo cabinet in the living room, so we no longer have a stereo in the living room, but then I paid my car insurance, and checked my 401k, and realized $50 in milk money would really, really help until Mrs. Ha gets paid next week. So I'll rummage through the house looking for stuff I can make a good buck on, I'm even selling some of my favorite shoes and boots (not such a big loss since I can't wear them comfortably since my feet widened), so if you want engineer boots, Bass tassel loafers or Blass monk shoes, come on by. Other than that, there'll be $1 CDs, $2 DVDs, Grolsch bottles, and whatever else we can sell.
