Family
By ObviousTroll (Sun Apr 27, 2008 at 01:06:03 AM EST) sleep, family, whining (all tags)
I wake up, stagger to the bathroom, notice the living room light is on, go down stairs...

SWHTL is sitting in my recliner playing solitaire - too sore to sleep, can't relax.

We took the second part of the black belt test yesterday. It was... frustrating. We (SWHTL and I) got off to a bad start and we both had a number of bad moments due to nerves and young adults who were simply doing the forms faster than we could, causing us to make mistakes trying to keep up.

At the second half, though, techniques, went better, and we performed competently enough, although I don't think I covered myself in glory.

4 hours of continuous martial arts...

On Thursday, we spar.

What to do? She's wound up within herself, sore, frustrated, and I'm the same way. Some peppermint tea, then, for her, and I start making some from-scratch sticky buns for breakfast.

What else can you do when you're too sore to sleep at 4:30 in the morning?

It's a good time for writing.  But cooking works, too.

the sparing the "spar till you can't anymore, then spar even more" part of the test, not the forms. How long is the sparing supposed to be?

It starts @ 7:30 pm, I'm hoping it's no more than 1-2 hours.

Has anybody seen my clue? I know I had it when I came in here.
