I watched Heroes last night. It was crappy. There's no point in watching at all from now on. Last straw. No joke. Not watching. If I watch next week, find some HuSi punishment for me. UNLESS I was drunk at the time.

So I finally got that gym membership and lifted for the first time in several years. I took it easy, knowing better than to kill myself on my first day in the gym. Accordingly, I'm not terribly sore, it's just that I have severe trouble walking or climbing stairs. I mean, yowzers.

Simple stuff, just squat, bench press, deadlift, and then walk home. All were only around 100# work sets. So, not sore, my legs just don't work anymore. Things went well, but I'll have to watch my form and I think I'll do more empty-bar warmups next time.

Doot doot. Just dicking around at work. I gave up on that exam in November. I'll write a novel in November, though. Or not really. I'll write 50,000 words, mostly character sketches and some short stories, mostly on the same theme.

I cut my finger yesterday while cutting cheese. I was rushed because I was making an open-faced egg, cheese, and salsa sandwich on my blixco bread and, while frying up the eggs, realized I hadn't cut up the cheese. Since frying occurs rather quickly, I had to get the cheese in there quickly. Oops! Then I had to find a way to stop the bleeding quickly while tending to my eggs and melty cheese. The annoying thing is that it's not a bad cut, but it just doesn't want to stay closed. I keep bumping it. It shouldn't scar, the knife was very sharp, so it's a very clean cut, but if it keeps getting opened... The sandwich turned out well.

I'll make another loaf of bread tonight. Bread machines are great, if not evil.

I may have Chipotle for lunch. I didn't have time to pack a lunch this morning and I've been packing lunches all week: one day out should be fine.

Burns like hell, works like a charm. Seals up those little cuts you can't get to close.  Great for hangnails too.

Do nothing, do nothing, do nothing, do nothing, CLIFFHANGER! Do nothing, do nothing, do nothing, do nothing, STEALL ALL YOUR POWERS! Do nothing, do nothing, do nothing, do nothing, SOMEONE ELSE STEALS ALL THE STOLEN POWERS! Do nothing, do nothing, do nothing, do nothing, CLIFFHANGER! Do nothing, do nothing, do nothing, HIRO, do nothing STEAL ALL THE STOLEN POWERS BY STEALING THE POWERS OF THE POWER STEALER! Do nothing, do nothing, do nothing, PSYLAR! Do nothing, season finale.

We haven't watched it in a season and a half, caught twenty minutes of it waiting for My Own Worst Enemy - a show WORTH watching, so far, and it was pretty much the same show we gave up on in the first season. They keep building to something, but that something never really happens. The only real difference is that at this point some of them ARE using their powers every once in a while. Using their powers - TO DO NOTHING!

I talked with some friends that watch the show religiously and they say they're sick of seeing Peter get built up just to get knocked down over and over again. Honestly, I thought he was a complete dumbass for hugging his dad on the show we saw, and that's after missing everything since halfway through the first season. I hate to see something with so much potential bog down into a spiral of suck, but Heroes did just that, and seems to still be doing it.

Duh. It has to be Sylar. by gzt (2.00 / 0) #8 Wed Oct 22, 2008 at 10:47:38 AM EST
With how stupid they are these days, they'd go simply by the similarity of the name. Gosh.

Bread by ad hoc (2.00 / 0) #5 Wed Oct 22, 2008 at 08:18:46 AM EST
I made this today. Quite yummy although it didn't turn out like it was supposed to I don't think. Mine was really thin, like a sticky pizza dough and it didn't brown. Since I couldn't shape it I left it in a sort of lump which, when cut, is sort of biscotti shaped. Not good for sandwiches (unless you like really long, thin PB sandwiches) but it's great for dipping in soup.

This must be the stuff you make soup-in-a-bread-bowl bread out of.

We are still watching it, but only because what else is there to do at that time?

I lost interest after the season 1 finale by lm (2.00 / 0) #12 Thu Oct 23, 2008 at 07:42:49 AM EST
Well, my interest in Heroes actually started waning prior to that. But the finale killed any remaining interest I had in watching any future episodes.

Heroes would have been great for a one or two season story arc. But someone decided to try and make into a multi-year saga. Blah. They'd have been better off doing a couple of seasons and then doing future shows more or less set in the same universe.

yeah, season 1 should've ended it all. by gzt (2.00 / 0) #13 Thu Oct 23, 2008 at 08:11:29 AM EST
But, you can't do that in modern television. It's making money, therefore you have to make another season.
