Diary
By yankeehack (Mon Sep 03, 2007 at 09:57:13 AM EST) fun loving cowqaas, life, busy, boys, tagging is so 2006 (all tags)
I’ve been blissfully busy these last few weeks of summer. And grateful for that too.  I’ve tried to keep up and read your diaries and to offer my congratulations and condolences and encouragement to you all.

So, it’s a beautiful day here and I’ve been sitting down with my laptop (something I really haven’t done in a while) and pretty much been catching up with the happenings of the Internet.

I apparently last diarized just after my birthday, so it’s pretty much been since then that I’ve been busy.

Let’s see. I did go to AC with my girlfriend from work a few weeks ago and we had a few adventures. The town was teeming with bachelor parties, so groups of men on a mission to be assholes for a weekend abounded. Or something like that. We had drinks at a beach bar, sunbathed on the beach, ogled men, walked the boardwalk, had guys look at us and later that night hung out at the Borgata. It was quite the night. We tried waiting for a cab at our off the boardwalk hotel, but only succeeded in garnering the attention of two Mexican dudes asking us if we wanted “go with them”. I gave them a withering look and they walked away and we had to walk in heels to the nearest casino to grab a cab.

After a number of drinks, we got to talking to one drunk off his ass fireman from NY. While he babbled about being recently divorced and wanting to hookup with either or both of us, his friends just shook their heads and apologized for him. He was the asshole while we never did get to meet the groom to be. I was more amused about the situation than anything else, since he was obviously not hooking up with anyone that night.

One of the better parts of the trip was being able to stop at a Jersey farmstand and pick up some fresh produce. Yum Yum. The whole trip was good for a change of pace.

Other than that, the past few weeks have been notable because LO’s summer camp ended and so she spent one week with my folks and another at her Dad’s. School starts tomorrow here and she’s just about ready. She is even using her old backpack from last year and her pencil case. She’s now configuring her bookbag for tomorrow. We went shoe shopping yesterday and will go clothes shopping when the weather gets a little cooler.

Work is work. New guy is fitting in nicely and like I thought would happen, he’s getting my design work, which is quite fine by me. I have been teased mercilessly due to football season starting up again.

The ex, for various reasons, is pissing me off. I may write about this more elsewhere.

I have an appointment with the obgyn this week about the spotting, which increased this week.  I’d lie if I said I wasn’t worried.

The other news is that most of my free time these past few weeks has been occupied by a particular member of the legal profession, hehehe. Met elsewhere online. He’s a cutie and upbeat to be sure, but oh so totally not my usual type. Grew up mostly in Jersey, went to school in this area (in the state I wish not to name) and graduated from the law school that I briefly attended, which amused him when we first started getting to know each other. Works mainly in the next county over, doing family law of all things.  Has two kids, a boy and a girl a little younger than LO. The kids live with their Mom and he has them every other weekend and one night a week.

So, we went on a few dates that week LO was with my parents. I usually don’t go on dates that require babysitting, but I made an exception that week and aside from our comic lateness for each of the dates, that week worked out quite well. We’ve been nearly inseparable during our free time. My sister met him last week when she was in town and gave me the “What the hell, he’s not your type? He’s so cute and he digs you!” speech. I can tell you that it takes about 50 minutes from his place to my work in the mornings.  Unfortunately, for the time being, our weekends with our kids doesn’t match, so this weekend in particular has been tough. We’ve started with the “what if we met the kids” talk, and we’re both deciding to hold tight on that for a while. He’s the first guy I’ve felt about in this way in a long time, so we’ll see.

OBGYN Buddies by me0w (4.00 / 2) #1 Mon Sep 03, 2007 at 10:10:29 AM EST
We should form a vagina club. My obgyn is sending me for a series of ultrasounds to look for "masses". I'm all excited about the uterine photo shoot and all, but I'm hoping very much they don't find any "masses".

Good luck with your appointment. I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

Down with strange gyn-ie weirdness.

I think the purpose of exes is to piss one off. It's the only explanation for the insensitive boorishness.

The ob/gyn stuff will work itself out for the best.
