Print Story Breakfast
325mg aspirin
20mg pseudophedrine hydrochloride
200mg caffeine (tablet)

also...

800mg creatine & chewable multivitamin.

The aspirin/pseudofed/caffeine produces a very nice morning sensation of wakefulness far superior to a normal cup of coffee.

Coffee consumption tends to be highly variable. I tend to drink it black, which makes it rather slow to consume. Or if I sweeten it and add milk I'll drink it faster. In any event there is no guarantee that I'll actually drink all of it.

I noticed the last time I switched to caffeine tablets over coffee that when I had forgotten to take my morning tablet, after a few days, that it had no effect on me. The usual morning headache and grogginess was absent.

Something about the classical conditioning process involved in the time it takes to consume the coffee, the smell of the coffee, and so on, seems to be important to the withdrawal effects.

Is it wrong that I enjoyed this diary? by gazbo (4.00 / 3) #1 Wed Sep 26, 2007 at 06:50:36 AM EST
No.  No, I don't think it is.

I've never seen the point of caffeine tablets; I've twice now tried an experiment where I've taken 700mg worth of caffeine tabs and not felt noticeably more awake.  The first occasion I went to bed a couple of hours later and had no trouble getting to sleep.

(my homepage has a picture of me holding a Vivarin box) but caffeine is a pretty shitty drug in higher doses. Heck, stimulants are shitty drugs.

But I still adore my morning mug of freshly roasted freshly ground French press coffee.

I just take a couple hydrocodone or oxycodone and take a minor speed trip followed by a wild, dream filled nap. Simple and refreshing -- and with care and planning, legal even.

I'm not ready to tear up some tendons though to get it legal.

I don't have to do anything radical. by greyrat (2.00 / 0) #24 Thu Sep 27, 2007 at 09:15:50 AM EST
Just complain to my doctor about my arthritis and non-specific joint pain, bone spurs on my spine and back pain. Do it enough and he's willing to take a step up from anti-inflammatories.

mine thinks narcotics aren't very effective, I can't get codeinated cough syrup, and she never suggested anything stronger than prescription NSAIDs and Tylenol.

Isn't that something body builders use to improve their workouts?

Has anybody seen my clue? I know I had it when I came in here.
It can be used by blixco (4.00 / 1) #5 Wed Sep 26, 2007 at 08:02:02 AM EST
to stack against a few other things like creatine.  Yes.

It's also outrageously difficult on the stomach and the liver if there is no food involved.
