By ana (Mon Jun 04, 2007 at 09:27:55 AM EST) weekend, putting the bo in boston, concert (all tags)
was had by most, if not all.

So Friday last, one BlueOregon, hereafter known as bo, hopped a bus from where he's staying at the moment, in Newyorkistan, and came to Bostonia. So we had lunch at the Dim Sum joint, featuring ad hoc, toxicfur, ana, and bo. We managed by specifically asking for them, to get some tasty tiny fried octopods, because it's never too early for cephalopods. Nearly too late, but never too early.

We let bo wander for the afternoon, after which he and toxicfur went to our house to drop off bo's stuff and feed the dog. And meet the cats. Only one of whom scored bo-blood, that I know of.

Back to the city for dinner with Kellnerin and aethucyn, and a feast of Fajitas, 'Ritas, and bo-bads. And one of those "you really had to be there" stories from K.

That evening we attended a long-planned concert. The choirmaster at The Church of the Advent is retiring after 30 years on the job, and as a parting concert, offered a fare of compositions of Hieronymous Praetorius for double choir. The sound, as always was perfect for the acoustic there. Much fun.

Almost ready to go out to breakfast, and bo discovered the seat had ripped out of his trousers. So toxicfur turned up something from the retired clothing bin that was almost the same color of black, and I spent 20 min or so stitching a patch onto his backside. When told of this later, my mom expressed rather unseemly surprise that I knew how to do such a thing. Not all that hard...

Saturday we took him to breakfast at a Danish Pastry bakery, which comes recommended to us by actual Danes. It was well worth the trip. Bo amused himself around Bostonia for the afternoon before bussing back to Newyorkistan.

The rest of the Saturday drill was compressed into the rest of the day, including a trip to the grocery store that had little on the list but enough impulse buys to push the total over the century mark, like it is nearly every week these days.

Sunday, the penultimate up at six, no dawdling drill, for Trinity Sunday. The choir goes on hiatus for the summer, which is good since the church acts like a brick oven in the Boston Summer Heat. And toxicfur got drafted to usher, (to ush?) yet again, much to her displeasure.

Evening, and we watched part 2 of the miniseries Empire Falls. Was fun, if fluffy, entertainment; not as good as the book, but what book-based movie ever is? We rented it from Netflix months ago, and have been paying $18 a month to keep it unused on top of the teevee ever since (with two of its fellows). It's in the mail today.

And so Monday rolled around, and with it the remains of Tropical Storm Barry, and soaking rain.

Anyway. Work beckons. Whatever it was I was doing...

Right. The ushering thing. by toxicfur (4.00 / 1) #1 Mon Jun 04, 2007 at 09:55:37 AM EST
I should've added that to my rant, because I'm very nearly at the point where I want to say "no more ushering." Of course, I'll still get asked to fill in every friggin' week since people don't show up and I'm the only one there who knows kind of what to do. Grrr. And this is why I'll never be an acolyte.

Except for that, though, it was a really nice weekend, and I'm glad to finally meet bo in person.

One day soon, I'd like to pick your neuroscientists' brain, as part of research for The Saga, Mark III.

And buy you lunch for your birthday, last November. ;-)

sewing a patch by aphrael (2.00 / 0) #5 Mon Jun 04, 2007 at 05:37:36 PM EST
i doubt i could do it and have it stay on for more than an hour or so before working its way loose.

Me, too. by toxicfur (2.00 / 0) #6 Tue Jun 05, 2007 at 02:17:46 AM EST
ana does the sewing in our house - buttons, repairing dog toys, patches, whatever needs doing. It's really quite awesome. :)
