Washing the unwashed masses since 1977...

  • I didn't make it to the big store where you trade your kopecks for food this weekend (busy busy busy doncha know) so I had to eat out for runch today. Guess where I went? That's right Sparky - Chicken with Cashew Nuts and a deep flied egg lorr! And some of you try to tell me there is no God!
  • The HuSi Maulers suffered their first loss of the season yesterday. Alprazolam got like 900 points out of Drew friggin Brees and pulled off an upset. Plus my wide outs didn't show up at all which didn't help. That will likely drop me out of first place too, as odd as that is. You win 7 in a row and one little loss drops you to second. Pshaw.
  • I went to this OktoberFest partay on Saturday which was loads of fun. Well, fun in that there was more German food laid out than you could shake a loaf of kosher rye bread at. Plus there was some girl who was actually German there, who, was just hotter than a SoCal housing development. Married too, although that didn't stop all the guy blokes from openly staring at her. She spoke pretty good english too although I'm fairly certain I impressed her with my mad German counting skills. Eins, twei, drei etc etc. Anyways, props go out to Germany for breeding such a sexy little minx. Her presence prevented me from making tasteless Nazi jokes, which was a real shame, but I'm nothing if not flexible in that area.
  • For the life of me I don't understand why those PayDay Loan places get so much grief. They provide a service to people who patronise them by choice. I don't care if they charge 90% interest - if you don't want to pay it then don't go there.
  • I went to check my email this morning and instead accidentally downloaded the new Eagles CD. Bah. Horrible. Awful. There's some nice Joe Walsh guitar work in spots, but otherwise it's just boring dull bland tripe.
  • ATTENTION Colorado Rockie players - your skirts have been cleaned and pressed and are ready for pickup whenever you get the chance...

    yeah, Life's been Good..

Also, do yo feel better knowing the tribe lost to the eventual champs ?

And the brown's pulled it off against the hapless rammers.

Pay Day loans. Bob, it's because the folks using them are friggen retarded. Did you play tricks on the special ed kids at school to take their lunch money ("here's something shiny, kid, trade for your lunch money") ? If so, fuck you. If not, I hope you at least saw what's wrong about it. Granted, I figure the folks using them are probably the same who got adjustable, interest only, zero down ARMs to buy their house, but still. Don't abuse the retards.

Hit on any non married wimminfolk at the party ? Bring any home, or was it busy because you were so hung over and couldn't function ?

Speaking of which, why should the state defend your property by outlawing stealing if you're too much of a pansy to defend it yourself? There ain't much difference between protecting the weak minded from the financially savvy and protecting the weak bodied from the physically disciplined.

Nobody is imposing these payday loans on these people. They are walking into the shops and willing signing up.

So yes, if I place all my crap on the lawn and stick big giant "STEAL ME" signs on everything I wouldn't expect the local law enforcement agencies to protect my possessions.

To defend or not to defend your own property is no less of a choice than signing or not signing on a dotted line. You just don't like to admit it because you're a sissy.

Well, yeah, considering they're grandparents and all that. Or at least so old they should be grandparents. They need to do like that guy from Led Zepplin who just did a soft jazz album with some chick singer. Because that's what the Boomers listen to these days.

RE: Sports. At least your team didn't get the worst spanking since Kennedy was president. Ye Gods, the Redskins got embarrassed. I'd think the Pats were cheating if I didn't know that that sort of thing didn't go on in the NFL.

Which Zep guy did a smooth jazz CD? That might actually be interesting. See - I don't care that the Eagles are old and past their prime - that doesn't mean that have to put the same old dull banal tripe out. I'd respect them if they actually tried something a little different even if it sucked.

re: Yeah  - Ol Billicheck is running up the score to prove a point methinks. But boy oh boy, that team is a fucking juggernaut, no? I don't see anyone beating them at this pace.

    Plant and Allison Krauss by jayhawk88 (2.00 / 0) #8 Mon Oct 29, 2007 at 09:41:54 AM EST
"Folksy blues/rock" might be a better description based on the one song I've heard.

Here's the question I had about the Pats and that infamous 4th and 1 then went for with about 11 minutes left in the game: If they kick a field goal they're up 41-0, meaning the Redskins need 6 touchdowns to win. Realistically we all know that could never happen, but I wonder if any NFL team could ever do that. Outside of some ridiculous scenarios like "Redskins recover 4 onside kicks" or "Tom Brady throws 6 picks returned for TD's", I seriously question whether any NFL team could score 6 touchdowns in 11 minutes against any other NFL team.

re: It's possible in the same sense that flipping a coin 1,000,000 times and having it come up heads every time is possible.

I think Hoodie is on a mission and he's out to punish every team he plays. He's got the team to do it too. Those guys are badass. Hell, the Browns actually played them tougher than anyone else as it turns out and they lost by 17 points.

It's pretty clear that this season is just one big F YOU by the Pats to the NFL. Which they are entitled to a bit I think, as they really did take a lot of undeserved heat from the media for that whole "TapeGate" thing. But going for it on 4-1 on an opponents 7 with 11 minutes left in a game up 38-0 is just classless.

There is one thing that I keep going back to with the Pats: The combined record of the teams they've beaten so far is 24-34. Granted the way the NFL is these days that's probably going to be the case for just about any team, but still, the only teams they've played so far that should have challenged them are San Diego (who were floundering in Week 2 when they met), Cleveland (who was 2-2 at the time), Dallas and Washington.

After Belichick was thrown under the bus by his own protege and then opportunistically stomped on by everyone else in the league, IMO he has no need to maintain any sort of gentleman's professionalism. I loved watching the Vikings annihilate everyone back in 98 too. I recall something like a 55-10 vaporization of the bears back then.

When I'm imprisoned as an enemy combatant, will you blog about it?

    Pay Day by duxup (2.00 / 0) #7 Mon Oct 29, 2007 at 09:17:29 AM EST
I figure there's this line, where it is I'm not sure in every case but between each customer and business there is this line that leaves room for each of them to cause their own problems and have it be their own fault.   There is however that line where their actions end up being a combination of both of their faults.  Maybe it is morality, karma, blame, whatever.

Either way I find pay day loan actions on the part of the business to cross that line.  The people who use them still are blowing and share plenty of blame but the amount charged is absolutely crazy to where they're often doing real harm to many of their customers and know it.   Heck keeping them in that crappy loop to maintain the business.

I did hear that some large bank was recently looking into stepping into that market at a FAR lower rate as they already have the structure to do so and it wouldn't cost them much to do so.

If they want to make an obscene profit that's quit alright with me. Microsoft makes an obscene profit, no?

I don't buy into the idea that they're somehow taking advantage of these poor people. They're giving out loans to high risk people and it's a sellers market in that case.

That said - I'm surprised some banks haven't come in and started offering loans at lower rates - there's lots of money to be made there it would seem.

    Wall-Mart by duxup (2.00 / 0) #16 Mon Oct 29, 2007 at 10:48:51 AM EST
I think there's a line somewhere in the land of "profit" too where it goes from "profit" to "asshole".  Obviously in piratical terms going as far as legislating something that is crazy, but that doesn't mean I give those companies free passes for being "asshole" either.

Anyway the bank I heard about was one of the major banks BoA or something, but interestingly enough one of the arguments that Wall-Mart has been making to try to get permission to start its own bank was that they explicitly planned to aggressively go after the pay day loan companies.  Put a bank that offers such a service and low cost savings and etc in each Wall Mart with low rates and blamo the pay day companies would either fry or substantially have to lower their rates.  I'm no Wall-Mart fan (well not a fan of much) but I wouldn't mind seeing that.

As you can imagine the Pay Day folk and traditional banks have been lobbying hard to stop Wall-Mart and have been successful so far.

How much are these payday loans for?  Conceivably not more than you will be pulling on your next check.  Wouldn't it make more sense to hit up a friend, roommate, or even mum for an interest-free short-term loan?
