Hey you all. I haven't had much time to talk to you, but I just wanted to say hi, and share this little tidbit of info with you all.

I found out a little while ago that some 20 year old soldier was driving 75 miles an hour down the cross street by my house and plowed into my house, driving through my office and my daughter's bedroom. Fortunately, the wife and I were in Vegas and my daughter was at my folks, so we're OK. We got an early flight out to get home and survey the damage, so I'll be sure to keep you all posted.

motherfucking fucked up shit. Glad everybody is OK.

Just remember, it was only one bad apple.  The higher-ups bear no responsibility in this (or any other) case.

Never resist the urge to make snide politically-motivated comments. That's the rule I always try to live by.

well, I can see how you think it was by johnny (2.00 / 0) #20 Sun Jun 11, 2006 at 05:19:06 PM EST
insensitive of me, but I was only trying to be light. Apologies to CT for any offense inadvertently given.

But as to MNS as the proponent of muzzling oneself to spare people's feelings, that is what we call farce, que non?  MNS: maybe it was the nature of my jibe, and not its existence, that roused your chivalric impulse?

You'd be surprised by MohammedNiyalSayeed (4.00 / 1) #22 Sun Jun 11, 2006 at 10:30:13 PM EST

how respectful I am when people around me encounter genuine strife. What never fails to surprise me, of course, is how many autistic people there apparently are out there on that thar intarweb.

But on to the meat; oh, how long I've waited to discuss politics with you, and this seems the perfect opportunity to do so, so let us not waste any more valuable time jibberjabbering... You don't like the war in iraq. Woohoo! Your position is pretty much a matter of public record, and I've read it, so I get it. Now, before we bother going any further, what's my position? See, it's my guess, and it's just a guess, mind you, that you've never bothered reading my position, and, well, I'm not an educator. I haven't the patience to go over it, nuance by nuance, all over again, as, to be quite honest, I'm bored with the topic. That's why I don't talk about it too much. But, by all means, if you haven't a clue what my position is, then let's just say it's not necessarily what you think it is, and that the "nature of your jibe" was only obnoxious because you failed, gloriously, the Tragedy + Time = Comedy formula of behavior. Bad form. Your politics being silly and reactionary has nothing to do with your nasty comic timing.

I would be surprised. I'm willing to believe that you can be sensitive from time to time, but "being nice" is not part of the MNS shtick.  I mean, give me a flipping break.

But as you say, maybe this is a conversation best pursued someplace else, or not at all.

I also hope that both you and the soldier are well insured so that you can have your house remodeled into your dream home.

75mph? Wow. Was that in a residential district?

Well, the most important part is that you and your family are ok.

The rest is just stuff.

and glad to hear no one was home at the time.

Was the kid drunk, or was he just stupid and trying to find ways to avoid going to Iraq.  I guess more things will become clear when you get home, save journey.

Some teenage punk did this in Rochester a few by georgeha (4.00 / 2) #14 Sun Jun 11, 2006 at 08:04:49 AM EST
months back. He admitted to drinking a few, before his lawyer shut him up. The house was totalled, fortunately no one was hurt.

As a former teenage boy, I think they should be limited to 30 hp four cylinder cars for the first 5 years of their driving career.

I'll discuss this with my Congressman. by ammoniacal (4.00 / 1) #15 Sun Jun 11, 2006 at 08:32:28 AM EST
It would certainly be a boost to the hybrid-car industry.
