okay, it's mf-ing mfc-ing time.

we're (256 and i) going to be doing things a little differently this time around, details inside.
Update [2006-4-8 16:28:19 by misslake]: *VOTE YOU RAT-BASTARDS!* i see that whilst 65 of you have viewed this story, only 31 have voted! that's less than half of you! oh the shock, oh the horror! you should vote early and vote often. don't you understand democracy?

every mfc to date has been fantastic, i hope that this one can live up to it. there are quite a few bands/performers that 256 has been tempted to declare as the mfc theme (Snoop Dogg MFC? Dead Kennedys MFC? Lion MFC?), but no, we have decided that we should break from the artist-based mfc trend.

we have come up with quite a number of ideas for potential mfcs and have had difficulty deciding which would RTFO the most. then, inspired by blixco's deadline poll in the last mfc, it occurred to us: what could be more in the spirit of the MFC than letting the participants (and audience) choose the theme?

so we have outlined a series of MFC themes below. please vote in the poll for whichever theme(s) you would most like to see used in MFC 5. Voting will close at precisely 5pm EST Tuesday April 11th (for choosing the theme). At that time the theme will be locked and it will be time to begin RTFOing. for entirely selfish reasons, the deadline of the MFC itself will not be put to vote. MFC 5 (theme unknown) will be open for entries up until 5pm EST on Friday April 28th, thus allowing the maximum time to RTFO while ensuring that all entries will be completed in time to go on the 606 party playlist.

all right, here it goes:

1. MFC 5: the H5N1 charity album - a selection of songs about, or inspired by, the bird flu. all proceeds to go to the bird flu, if we can figure out where it does its banking.

2. MFC 5: CheeseburgerBrown - the soundtrack - music from, and inspired by, CheeseburgerBrown: The Broadway Musical featuring the hit single "My Wife's Rack".

3. MFC 5: Meta-MFC - covers and interpretations of previous MFC entries or music from the wider portfolios of our talented HuSi musicians. Alternately, set someone's diary to music.

4. MFC 5: TV theme songs - either direct covers, radical reinterpretations or original lyrics to the theme of your favorite (or least favorite) TV show.

5. MFC 5: Lyrical Variations - we provide the lyrics (maybe a whole song, maybe just a few words), you go to town.

6. MFC 5: Fuck You Debacle - All MFC entries as covers of the Titanic theme.

7. MFC 5: Waltzing MFCtilda - all entries to be waltzes. this is not as limiting as you may at first think.

8. MFC 5: But We Like The Artist-Based MFCs MFC - ok then, MISFITS MFC!

OK, GO!!

to the point of betty crocker annoyance. Not sure they can do a Bird Flu song? I voted CBB.

meta and waltz. Been wanting to finish up that idea i had for Tom Waits' Poor Edward, which, as it happens, is a waltz. I'm sure I could work the 'flu in, somehow.

you could podcast your Writing Fun Challenge entry. Once I get around to posting the prompt & rules and stuff. With suitable background music, of course.

I have absolutely no recollection of posting this comment, coming as it does in the period of Friday night / Saturday morning that I really don't remember at all. Don't know whether to be pleased or annoyed I didn't post a diary.

Anyway. Waltzes or meta is my vote.

"We're going to the Lake"

I can't get enough of it - really.

clearly then by 256 (4.00 / 1) #11 Sat Apr 08, 2006 at 08:09:47 AM EST
you should be voting for the meta-mfc.

i would likely take such an outcome as an excuse to do a cover of MNS's song about Plato's Republic.

Were for the H5N1 album, and for the meta-mfc.  The former because it is probably the most open one, and the latter because - although it's not something I'd normally do - well...exactly that: I'd not normally do anything like it, and therefore I should.

I recommend always assuming 7th normal form where items in a text column are not allowed to rhyme.

I'm just a fan of the Misfits, it was the first thing that came to mind that reflected my vote. Though, near as I can tell from your laundry day you have a lovely skull.

How could that not have been an option for MFC5?
