As a Canadian and a calm one at that, I frequently have cause to swallow my words in the name of civility. That's why it's so refreshing sometimes to just let 'er rip and debate something. I greatly enjoyed the flamewar about my wife's boobs, and I'd like to thank all of those who participated.
Especially: Blixco, who is a stand-up citizen in my eyes for not only indulging my inquiries, but also suffering through the parts where our dialogue became rambunctious (as is wont to happen when you're typing fast and furious) without losing his cool. True, he called "Feminism!" on me, but re-reading the thread it really does look like I'm accusing him of misogyny so I say we're on even ground for exchanging that kind of shot. Ultimately I found his point of view informative.
LFT: I'm sorry I didn't come to your defense sooner. I was confused by the exchange, and was suspending judgement until I acquired further information for context. I thought there must be something else behind what I was seeing, instead of what it appeared to be, which was just natural female competitiveness. Had I realized the character of the attacks sooner I'd have spoken up more quickly. Apologies.
Persimmon: again, thanks for your candour.
Calla: I've been in general treating this one with kid-gloves for a long time on account of having a crush on her boyfriend, but I feel refreshed and delighted that it now seems appropriate to call 'em as I see 'em with her. Thank you, calla, for revealing your true colours.
rmg: What happened to you, man? Where is your energy going these days, if not here?
We got to touch on some interesting issues, including Germaine Greer's famous Madonna/Whore Dichotomy which I think bears more exploration, but I'll leave that for another time. Plenty to mull over!
