I've not been cycling much lately on account of how I've been walking to work. As a result, my jeans aren't wearing out at the crotch with their usual rapidity. And yet, still, my favourite pair have managed to get quite significantly torn up at the ends. Went to buy a new pair and got, well, the exact same pair. But a 34" waist instead of a 36". Pretty sure the reason that they got ripped is they were sagging off me and thus scraping along the ground.
So at 12'5", I'm now officially about 2lbs lighter that my college weight, and about 13lbs lighter than at the HuSi drinks. Having said that, reduced muscle mass means I'm probably still considerably less thin that I was in college. Photos from graduation still look like I was thinner in the face back then. Though I also have bigger hair at the moment, so that may be distorting my perception.
Having basically adopted the "check every day, but monitor the trend, not the noise" method advocated in the Hacker's Diet, I've started to believe in the method. Slow, but steady progress is quite the motivator. To that end, I've decided to apply the same method to smoking. I reckon I'm averaging about 20 a day. Less on work days, more on drinking nights. So this week, the goal is to average 15 a day, by cutting back as much as possible on the work days, and trying not to go mad on the drink nights. After that, I'll try and drop my daily average by 2 every week. I've cut down before only to go on a massive bender, smoke 30, and stop caring, so let's hope the monitoring aspect of this method works better.
The Dublin customer broke the project into two parts - the first, a functional demo, the second, a secure, re-written port. €1k plus VAT for the first part. Which took 2 hours. So that's the laptop paid for. But now, one of the board members has taken an active interest in the project and was unaware of the two stage approach and is not happy. Apparently, the end customer thinks they're getting the full deliverable this week. Um, no.
Said board member is a friend of mine, and business partner of the business mentor and former employer, so it's not like I'm being raked over hot coals on it, but things will get interesting. And expensive. For them.
Still sticking to my new years resolution of staying single. Not so much as a snog since November.
On a vaguely related note, the sky is clear, the sun is shining, and I work on a college campus. Nice view.
