Never worked in one. I've worked in loads of different big corporations but it's all open plan.

I think they're quite rare in UKia by R Mutt (4.00 / 1) #3 Fri Mar 10, 2006 at 03:07:00 AM EST
The article suggests the US tax system favours them, as cubicles count as furniture which can be depreciated faster than an office.

Or possibly you can cram people even tighter in an open-plan office.

Haven't tried it, but would probably prefer a cube to open-plan.

It's the cramming in as many people as possible reason. Central London office space costs a bomb.

There's also the fact that it's easier for the partners to oversee what's going on in the office from their elevated corner office with the large glass pane. Good thing the glass is probably soundproof, it's impossible to work with all that monkey racket.

In the future, we'll be discarding the cubicle. I've discovered the next evolution in office design.

... but I don't think that 2004 was long enough ago to count as ``long, long ago.''

The 2014 Winter Olympics, on the other hand, are still open for bids.

Step 1: Show phony example about how surcharges on air fares don't limit travel and, therefore, don't do anything to solve the carbon problem, neglecting that the surcharge can be applied to the same types of actions that an airline suggests passengers do to offset the carbon emissions of the airliner they'll be aboard.

Step 2: Assume the free market can solve all ills, ignoring that a `free market' in carbon emissions can only exist if government mandated.

Step 3: Show how the real opposition to flight is part of a vast Marxist consipiracy.

They resized my browser to 1600 pixels wide and then only used a tiny section in the center. Fools.
