Saturday early afternoon five year old had a birthday party to attend at a local bowling alley, so in between buying her Ritz Bits from the vending machine I was talking to various moms and dads.
And then, Saturday afternoon I hustled off to the monthly meeting of the Rochester board gamers. I had never been before, and it was about what I expected. I couldn't stay too long, as Mrs. Ha had her mom staying with us, and I didn't get involved in any hex wargames, but I did lose my very first game of Ticket To Ride. It's a fun game, and now that I know how to play, I expect I can win, especially since my most likely gaming partners will be ten year old and five year old.
We had Mrs. Ha's mom this weekend, so it was a low key weekend. We probably don't keep her active enough or stimulated enough, but it's hard with two young kids.
She did watch the girls decorate our tree, I think she enjoyed that. The two closest places to get a tree are run by the Church, or the Boy Scouts, so everywhere it's a question of whether I want to support the pedophiles, or the homophobes. This year the homophobes won out, we got a big Balsam that makes the house smell nice on Friday night, with decorating done Saturday evening.
We had to get MIL and bring her back this time, so in addition to the 280 miles on the Windstar (at 20 mpg) and Thruway tolls, we had the additional complication of the Bills playing in Buffalo on Sunday. This meant we had to time our arrival after the game starts, and get back before it ends, so we don't get stuck in horrendous traffic (like Mrs. Ha did two weeks ago). Plus we wanted lunch at a pancake place, so we cut it a little tight. But we managed to get home before the game let out.
Last night we did get to see a movie, for the first time in a few weeks. It was My First Mister, a quirky film (in the spirit of Harold and Maude I suppose) with Leelee Sobieski and Albert Brooks. It was good.
The weather is still unChristmas like, it's in the high 40's, with rain and drizzle, and sometimes sun. We're trying to get into the Christmas spirit, I just bought some blue LED lights to put on the house. It's odd, the kids are not into Christmas specials this year, they'd rather watch Avatar. I'm sure the poll is a repeat, but what is your favorite Christmas Show?
