My father doesn't follow the simplest directions I give.

My father decided to get his possessions from the car that was involved in the accident last week.  I gave him specific and EASY driving directions to get to the auto body place.

I directed him to take the turnpike to the city and said which  exit to take.  Where to go once he exited the road.  Did he listen?  NO!  He went the way I specifically directed him not to go.  Guess what?  He got lost.  He took the wrong exit and started heading towards the heart of the city.  He called me and had to have me direct him through the city.  Of course, he called me back when he got through at the place.  He said that the guy there told him to take the turnpike.  HELLO....I told you to take the same @#$% road there.

It isn't like I wasn't sure where he was going.  I have lived in this city for five years.  Leaving is only temporary.

I find it really frustrating that he didn't take my word seriously.  I have never given him bad directions, so there is no reason for him not to believe what I say.  Of course, I'm probably making a big deal of this, but it still hurts.

All in all, he is on his way home now.  He arrived safely.

Pissing you off is in the job description. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

It was an American tradition, like fathers chasing kids around with power tools.
