Attention MillMan Infidel

Earthday. I usually avoid it like the plague. It's when all the suburbanites drive into town in their SUV and throw ice cream wrappers all over the Esplanade then complain how dirty the city is. But this year Carbon Leaf is appearing at the concert at the Hatch Shell, so maybe I'll drop by for a short time. I hope they have the start time posted soon. I wonder if anyone else is interested in going?

What a fucking racket. When filing my quarterly 941 tax form this morning, they played a recording saying next quarter was the last quarter they're going to accept filing over the phone. Starting 3d quarter, you have to find a agent to transmit your taxes to the IRS for you. For a fee. Yes, you must pay a fee to file your taxes. Think you can fill out the form line at the IRS site? You know, something for those Bbbbbillions of tax dollars spent upgrading the IRS systems? Think again. It must be submitted by a third-party. WTF? Fuck that. I'll go back to paper before I pay for the privilege of paying taxes.

I'm in a foul mood today. So I guess it's pretty much the same as every other day, at least lately. Ugh. How to get out of this funk?

I'm so sleepy my eyes are burning.

The one thing I remember about the first Earth Day was hanging out by the lakeshore, seeing all these suburban hippy kids piling out of a minivan with animal rights signs and pamphlets. There was another minivan of activists about a half a block away. For fun I asked them "Hey did you see the animal rights activists down the street?" One of the girls was incensed. "They're using this for ANIMAL RIGHTS??"

I was in middle school. We walked from the school to the local reservoir picking up trash along the way. But we got the afternoon off.

Fees to file taxes by jimgon (4.00 / 1) #4 Wed Apr 13, 2005 at 11:19:22 AM EST
Of course there are fees.  Business friendly Republicans are in control and they are helping their sponsors by pushing laws and regulations that make them money.  Social Security privatization would be a windfall for securities dealers and insurance companies.  Everything done in a Republican administration is about making big business big bucks.

Mr. jimgon has it right, though. Whereas most laws boil down to full employment acts for lawyers, tax laws generally fall into the full employement act for accoutants category.

Tax Law by jimgon (4.00 / 1) #10 Thu Apr 14, 2005 at 10:33:49 AM EST
Tax law is about redistribution of wealth.  Unfortunately in Republican Administrations it tends to be from poor to rich.  In recent Republican Administrations it's from poor to rich in the form of borrowing.

Let me get this straight by Rogerborg (4.00 / 1) #6 Wed Apr 13, 2005 at 09:38:13 PM EST
Even if you didn't have any income, you have to pay some fucknut in a suit to tell the government that?

Get out now.  Move to a Freer country, like Canada or Iraq.
