that anyone who works a tech job would be worried about meeting people "from the internet" as if we're not all part of the same social group already.

I'll be there for sure on Saturday and since we've met previously finding us should be easy. I think I still have your phone number too.

Should work in theory, but it's very expensive to make or receive calls, so I'll probably save it for emergencies.

Try to look conspicuous!

and by "conspicuous" you mean by R343L (2.00 / 0) #4 Mon Apr 12, 2010 at 09:12:21 PM EST
"look just like a nerd nervously waiting for the other nerds to arrive".

I go to metafilter meetups on occasion. It's generally so easy to tell where the group is even if no one I know has arrived ... though last meetup this failed because there was a somewhat nerdy (cute) fellow sitting alone (I arrived early) with an iphone (all west coast mefites have iphones, except the ones that have google phones to be contrary). I asked if he was from the internet. Fortunately he laughed with me, not at me. I think.

next coffee date my first line is going to be "are you from the internet?" Sex will ensue for certain.

i think that'll be pretty conspicuous.

(if i go to zeitgeist i'll change first)
If television is a babysitter, the internet is a drunk librarian who won't shut up.

I think you should wear a suit to zeitgeist by R343L (2.00 / 0) #13 Tue Apr 13, 2010 at 03:52:06 PM EST
That would rock. Hopefully mm or someone would take pictures.

Good luck with the mock. Did you end up with enough victims^Wvolunteers?

Taking photos is not allowed by fluffy (2.00 / 0) #14 Sun Apr 18, 2010 at 03:35:18 AM EST
as quite a few people were reminded by the not-so-happy security staff over the course of the evening.

I'd never been to Zeitgeist before so I don't know how recent this is, but there were big NO PHOTOS!!! signs everywhere, and any time someone took a flash photo, security dudes would be all NO PHOTOGRAPHY.  I overheard someone ask why, and the guy said it's for the privacy of others, who might not want to end up on Facebook or Twitter.  Which I can certainly get behind.

Agreed, though I thought it was better than a lot of British film comedies. My review -
