I can't seem to find much time to do more than spend a few minutes online every once in a while.

I'm sure I'll need to write more when the actual stress from interviewing enters my life. Just the thought of it gives me the willies. Bah.

Warmest regards,

The editors keep a tight ship here, so don't try any  of that stuff that goes on at k5 (like photoshopping people into pornography, or such). Welcome!

previous diaries, though the next one will be a heart pounder, as someone in the Ha household nearly dies from window glass falling from on high, just like in the Omen.

Watch for it.

I can't help but agree.  But then again, I was sure that the Chowdah wasn't gonna reign supreme last season either, so using me as a barometer is hardly wise.

Looking for a jorb in the midst of a recession is not one of your more stellar points.

I am sure you will prevail though.

Well by Bob Abooey (2.00 / 0) #14 Mon Mar 17, 2008 at 02:34:57 AM EST
When you're unemployed you have two options:
  1. Look for a job
  2. Stay unemployed.
Not a real hard decision, eh?

And actually it doesn't matter if it's a recession or not, there's always jobs to be had - you just have to get out there and dig em up.

Warmest regards,

It's called "blogging". It's like trolling, but you collect revenue from the ads running along your posts. See also: John C. Dvorak.

enjoying this being unemployed by wiredog (2.00 / 0) #9 Sun Mar 16, 2008 at 05:06:38 PM EST
Oh yeah. Back in 2002/03 I spent a year and a half unemployed. Gave me a real taste for not working, in addition to a mountain of debt and no savings or retirement.

FSM willing, if I hold on to my current job for another year, I'll be completely out of debt.

I'm in pretty good shape as I don't have any debt - no bills except rent and utilities.

You could take advantage of this by theboz (4.00 / 2) #10 Sun Mar 16, 2008 at 05:32:33 PM EST
You know, this may be a blessing in disguise.  Rather than looking for another I.T. job, you have another opportunity.  Given the recent turnover in the position, it seems that Barack Obama needs another spiritual advisor on his campaign.  I think you know what to do here.

Unemployed by blixco (2.00 / 0) #11 Sun Mar 16, 2008 at 05:35:22 PM EST
is excellent, if you can like it.  A lot of people can't, due to fear or external responsibility (kids to feed, etc).

Goddamn.  If I could, I'd be totally unemployed, work when I had to, etc.  I did that for a couple of years and it was awesome.

Some of my friends can't believe it when I tell them I'm feeling great and doing okay.

I think what it's done for me most is taught me that I don't have to stay at a job I don't like, I can walk away and be just fine.

Now to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life.

Except I'm no real estate tycoon.

I was thinking about starting my own re-finance company - some sort of a ruse to bilk money out of the people who bought houses they couldn't afford - you know, in a sort of karma pay-back for them bringing the country into recession and taking 10% off my stock portfolio...
