I did poorly on my chess tactics quiz last night. I took another and did worse. So I took a step back and ran through a large amount of easier problems and did decent. I think I should take a day off today. But it's a travel day. Frig, what am I supposed to do in the car if not play chess? Actually, I'm tired of tactical puzzles, perhaps I should have grabbed Ray Cheng's problem book instead.

So I told this girl I was going to be a full-time rickroller and therefore would probably be too busy to ever see her again took it well. She tried to engineer chillin' and drinkin' or something anyway, but I was able to dodge it.

I feel like I'm a character in some Russian novel, one of those young educated roustabouts of decent birth in some irrelevant position as a functionary in the civil service which really has no bearing on who I am and how I think of myself or even my prospects; everything else is just dissipated in drink and cards or chess. Not quite, really, just the feeling of being a stupid functionary in the civil service and its being irrelevant to pretty much everything.

Print Story Tell me more about DISAGREE?
Good times. Met some new folks yesterday, saw some old folks, quite connected but I don't particularly care. Sane about it, which is good.

Monday: an interview. Also: meeting with a potential new client. Wish I had an idea about both what sort they were. ie, just making sure I've got the goods I claimed to have or weighing against a half-dozen others.

so sad it has come to this.

Anyways, been hardly working. Which could have catastrophic consequences in the very near future. The roommate has Woman over - WTF, it's 1:30. Perhaps I should work if it's going to be impossible to sleep.

Soon, I shall turn off the internets to write a short paper I was supposed to do a while ago. Doot doot! I'm the one's gotta go to the Time Bomb High School. I just could not force myself to get it done earlier, but I could force myself to do the requisite thinking. Hence, it should not take too long to pound out.

Perhaps this means I need yet another beer.

I went to bed last night with two granola bars on my desk. I was going to eat them with lunch today.

I woke up this morning with one granola bar and a bowl with milk + cereal residue in the bottom on my desk. ROOMMATING INFIDEL!

Print Story I love being me so much.
Life is marvellous! I love it all, the marvels and pins and whistles.

I'm doing laundry as we speak! It's in the wash. I sent out an email to a couple lists I'm on about RMG LAUNDRY DAY, told most of my neighbors, it's all so marvellous. Several are participating, though I didn't tell them about HuSi to post it on. If they find it, they can post. If not, whatever. They might send them to me. If so, I may ask about relaying them here.

I just ran into one of my favorite people on earth. OMG! I had to resist very strongly the urge to ask her to marry me. I must be made of steel, for I just threw out the love of my dreams.

Now I'm writing a short paper on Hume. I have to decide whether to write about his attack on miracles or his attack on reasoning about cause and effect. I want to attack his attack on miracles, but I don't know if I've got the power, and I'm very sympathetic to his attack on causality. So, either way, it could be a weak paper. Either a bad disagreement or, "Yeah, I think he's got it about right." The paper's supposed to be short, but not that short.
