It seems the SJWs want his head on a silver platter. So angry with him. Defending a member of his team that is accused of rape. A good read if you have the time. Medium is a blog that anyone can write to.

When I worked in IT it was a toxic environment not because it was male dominated but because of management not understanding the technology and for diversity promoting administrative assistants to manager positions in IT that don't understand what they are managing.

In four years they had a 90% turn-a-round. People quit because the job was too hard and didn't pay enough.

But anyway back to RMS, you have you forgive his autism and lack of gender studies classes and books. He is still old school. But this may be the end for him and the FSF. The end of an era that brought us GNU/Linux and all of the goodies with it.

this is too controversial. Epstein had a lot of clients including the Clintons and Trump. Anyone who defends a pedophile has to go.

"Maybe if we watch, he'll mate with another rare comment troll! Crikey!"

himself, and therefore arguing pedantically without actually intending to condone having sex with a minor he's put the FSF in a terrible position. They need to cut him loose.

He did condone it by iGrrrl (4.00 / 1) #5 Sat Sep 14, 2019 at 04:49:51 PM EST
In fact, he claimed all those teenage girls wanted to have sex with those much older men. See here. They were looking at his blog.

I know a lot of people on the spectrum who know child pornography is wrong, so putting this down to social skills with a grown ass man is just wrong.

the girl in question was 16, that's statuary rape. Even if it happened on St. John's island.

the situation. It's deeply disturbing and makes me think of Sandusky and Penn State.

is there much evedince against Minksy? by dark nowhere (4.00 / 2) #6 Sat Sep 14, 2019 at 06:35:38 PM EST
Anything beyond circumstantial? I haven't followed it, but if not I'd file Selam G. on the eviller side of RMS in this case. I know conviction without evidence has the moral high ground these days but I can think of worse hills to die on.

I still stand by Damore's biggest failing is being under-educated, and many of his own complaints can be interpreted as how fucking hard it is to come by a proper education in these matters. But you know, he's well known and disagreed with, so he's either a dirty cop or an ICE agent/Nazi sympathizer if I'm reading the flow-chart right.

See you, space cowboy.

We don't know by Orion Blastar (2.00 / 0) #8 Sat Sep 14, 2019 at 07:34:19 PM EST
because of the controversy of the case.

Was he found guilty in a court of law? No. Is it innocent until proven guilty? Yes.

Did RMS say the teenage girls were willing and Minsky had sex with them with consent? Yes. But statutory rape is still rape.

I don't question any of that. by dark nowhere (4.00 / 1) #9 Sat Sep 14, 2019 at 07:47:44 PM EST
The sum total I've heard established about Minsky is he was over at the house with his wife a couple of times. I've heard the opinion that he probably did horrible things while he was there, but nothing of substance. If that is all it takes to get you on a list with this lot then the author's talking as much shit as RMS, with added malice.

See you, space cowboy.

SJWs by Orion Blastar (2.00 / 0) #10 Mon Sep 16, 2019 at 01:15:52 AM EST
are unforgiving and go with opinion rather than facts. There is no evidence or proof Minsky had sex with minor girls while he was in that house. Minsky is dead by the way. No trial for him.

But I wanted to focus on what RMS wrote.

imo he says stuff more or less this dumb all the time, but usually picks topics that don't matter nearly as much.

the SJWs and Feminists with his minors can give consent for sex words. I don't know if he can recover from it.

I once made Blastarix a GNU/Linux distro and he wrote me email saying that I should contribute to an existing distro than create my own. I wanted to make it like SteamOS. I since quit making it an am waiting for SteamOS to finish. He seemed nice at the time.

this person lists a conspiracy theory:

Age of consent in Massachusetts by Orion Blastar (2.00 / 0) #15 Mon Sep 16, 2019 at 11:40:07 PM EST
is 16. Where it happened seems to have a different age of consent. RMS is in MASS and MIT so his definition of the age of consent is different from others. This may be a factor in his reasoning.

Turns out he was accused by a victim by dark nowhere (4.00 / 2) #16 Tue Sep 17, 2019 at 07:02:23 AM EST
which is more than I've heard from the people condemning Minsky. I'm still not comfortable with that as a basis for public opinion convictions, but I have unusual experience with people who would tell that kind of lie.

See you, space cowboy.

Richard Stallman was misquoted by Orion Blastar (2.00 / 0) #18 Mon Sep 30, 2019 at 11:03:03 PM EST

Lies, Damned Lies, and Journalism
The original Remove Richard Stallman post contained leaked communications from a private mailing list. In it, the author quotes an email from Stallman where he explains that Marvin Minsky likely wouldn’t have known that the woman on Jeffrey Epstein’s island was coerced:

…the most plausible scenario is that she presented herself to him as entirely willing. Assuming she was being coerced by Epstein, he would have had every reason to tell her to conceal that from most of his associates.

A paragraph later, the author summarizes Stallman’s view as:

…he says that an enslaved child could, somehow, be “entirely willing”.

This is the opposite of what Stallman said, but this lie was repeated by the press. An article in the Daily Beast said:

Stallman wrote that “the most plausible scenario” for Giuffre’s accusations was that she was, in actuality, “entirely willing.”

An article in Vice spread the same lie:

Early in the thread, Stallman insists that the “most plausible scenario” is that Epstein’s underage victims were “entirely willing” while being trafficked.

There are two possibilities here. Either the author of the Medium post was not capable of correctly parsing the sentence, or she didn’t care about truth and was leveling as many accusations as possible in the hope that one would stick. In other words: she is either foolish or malicious. The same goes for the writers of the Vice and Daily Beast articles. To describe what they did as journalism would be an insult to journalists.

There was some shenanigans and taking words out of context. But Stallman shouldn't have tried to defend Mitski in the first place because it looks bad. It is the wrong hill to choose to die on and risk unemployment and homelessness.
