Sell the Porsche and get a Jeep?

But if so, which one? 2018 JK unlimited final edition V6 pentastar (petrol) pre-registered with about £8k off list, or wait an undetermined period of time for JL?

I know they don’t have a stellar reputation for reliability, but my porsche is now on its third gearbox and the opportunity to do 198mph seldom presents itself in central London traffic so how much worse coukd it be?

Third gearbox? by lm (4.00 / 1) #1 Sat Aug 04, 2018 at 05:26:13 PM EST
I would have thought you had learned how to shift properly by the time you were on your second.

Its an auto. by gmd (2.00 / 0) #2 Sat Aug 04, 2018 at 05:47:29 PM EST
Apparantly a gasket failure necessitates a £15k gearbox replacement witn the Porsche warranty.

If it's an automatic by lm (4.00 / 1) #3 Sat Aug 04, 2018 at 06:06:41 PM EST
Why are you shifting so much? Just stick it in drive and let the transmission do its stuff.

That’s what i do. by gmd (2.00 / 0) #4 Sat Aug 04, 2018 at 08:35:21 PM EST
but one drop of transmission oil in the tray == new gearbo. It’s just the way it is. I guess there’s some actuarial reasoning behind it.

Same as a Jeep in central London by marvin (2.50 / 2) #6 Sun Aug 05, 2018 at 01:52:25 AM EST
Utterly useless. Stupidly big, terrible visibility in an city filled with pedestrians and bikes, mediocre quality, and poor fuel economy.

If you aren't taking it rock crawling or into places where you might need your buddies truck to winch you back out, you don't need a Jeep. When >99% of the miles driven will be on aspahlt, it's a complete waste.

You miss the point by gmd (2.00 / 0) #8 Sun Aug 05, 2018 at 06:09:49 AM EST
Your response is exactly why it won’t be a waste lol!

I'm ever so sorry about your tiny penis by marvin (2.00 / 0) #9 Sun Aug 05, 2018 at 08:25:47 AM EST
Nah, not sorry. Buying stuff can't compensate for that or your shallow empty life. If needlessly wasting fossil fuels is just another way for you to "stick it to the liberals", there's not much point in engaging with you until such time as you learn to care about other people.

Well by gmd (2.00 / 0) #7 Sun Aug 05, 2018 at 06:08:48 AM EST
It trolls the po-faced porsche purists, and is faster 0-60 than the manual so fits quite well with my personality. I also use a computer rather than a typerwriter, and have central heating rather than rubbing two sticks together over some dry grass...

Meh. Cars are so passé. by Dr Thrustgood (4.00 / 1) #11 Sun Aug 05, 2018 at 11:41:38 AM EST
Anyone, even those serfs on salaries, can buy what they believe to be pricey cars nowadays.

and get a Mahindra Roxor, which is as close as you can get to a real Jeep these days.

Pretty sure the EU prohibits it by gmd (2.00 / 0) #15 Tue Aug 07, 2018 at 08:15:34 AM EST
Due to safety/emissions or some other Communistic protectionism.
I suppose one might be able to get Single Vehicle Approval, but as the article states it only has 2 seats and I want 4.

Is there any way you can could get free of the EU by georgeha (4.00 / 2) #16 Tue Aug 07, 2018 at 10:07:14 AM EST
and stop being ruled by faceless bureaucrats in Brussels? Think of how well your economy would do when unleashed from their rules and the subsidies you pay.
