Kiddo has her fall schedule planned out after waiting out drop add and additional class sections being added. LO is a bit neurotic because she's worried she's taking the wrong classes (I've been trying to calm her). We found out last night that her academic advisor is the daughter in law of a former NY Times editor.
The summer has slipped away quickly so far. LO has been keeping herself busy with being a fill-in nanny/cat sitter for two families. One family has 5 rambunctious kids and two laid back parents who are physicians. LO loves that family. The other family has a strung up stay at home mom who fills her days with golf, two kids on ADD and ADHD meds, a membership at a high end country club, and a detached from family life husband. So at least LO gets to see both sides and gets $75/day from the other family.
In other news, LO hasn't been hanging out with her girlfriends that much since Senior Week. Apparently things happened (as they usually do) and LO is pretty much ready to move on. Every few days she goes and hangs out with a camp friend whose parents moved to West Philadelphia, which is cool as LO then explores Philly with the friend, except she ends up driving home at 3am. Some of her state school friends are in summer session and boy, the snapchats LO has shown me. O_o
The best story so far though is that LO's destructive BFF got a belly ring (done crookedly no less) at 12 am in some shitty suburban piercing place. LO: "I'm glad I missed that lapse in judgement!"
In other news, I'm going back to reality next Monday. I'm going to start as a consultant for the startup in NJ. The company wants to hire me on full-time, but my boss-to-be a) is worried that the company won't make the mindset/personnel/product marketing, etc. changes they need to make (buncha nerds who need to learn how to sell...I say this lovingly), b) also worried if I'd be happy there long term if they don't make the changes, and c) he's buying me time to figure out what I want to do while being mostly flexible. Basically, I have an out in six months or I can convert to full-time. So I'm supposed to talk with the boss-to-be about pay, terms, etc. today. I should be able to work mostly at home since one of the things is that they won't be opening an office nearby soon. (I suspect my fortunes at this company won't be tied specifically to my boss-to-be. cough)
Not much else going on, I've been laying low due to waiting for this consulting thing to come to fruition (they were waiting for funding) and just letting LO do her thing.
I had a pre-DNC lunch with a Bernie staffer on Saturday, which sums up my social life, heh. I haven't been interested in going to the parties. Meh.
