Oh boy and am I ever...procrastinating.

A former work colleague who enjoys my dating stories posted this on my FB wall and it's funny.

Talking about dating, so...on Saturday evening went on a date. I picked the popular bar we met at, as we both hadn't been by there since it was renovated. It was packed as it had outdoor dining and it was a very nice night. There was also some guy's 40th Birthday party going on the upper deck.

Unlike all my other dates recently, date was there, on time and waiting for me. He was also a huge, tall ex-football player type who is almost 50. He was from working class northeast Philly and moved out to the suburbs. Has one daughter, a year older than LO. He works as a CFO at a small company. PERF... he was also socially awkward and the world's least interesting man. Knew very little outside of his world, hadn't traveled much and I have no idea what he did with his free time. He mentioned that he would love to have someone make dinner for him.

And unfortunately he was very into me. He called me upbeat.

He asked me during the date if I would see him again. Reluctantly, I said yeah, I would and he should pick the next date. I left the date with mixed feelings at best. Also, he tried to kiss me in the parking lot in front of the valet and waiting cars. He got my cheek, instead.

I slept on it and had that "Oh shit" feeling about him when I woke up Sunday. Later in the day, he texted me and suggested that we go to Dave and Busters for our next date. He doesn't drink that much either, so the suggestion wasn't made ironically.

I couldn't respond...and haven't yet. I am too restless for a guy like him.

LO is home from her four weeks away at camp, where she won a leadership award. I'm proud of her. She also had adventures and "nearly died" when she had lightning strike twice near her. One of the counselors of her program was kicked out for coming back to camp duties drunk, so that wasn't cool.

LO also is in a fight with the Big Lug (her football player boyfriend here) as a girl at camp got jealous of the attention she was getting and told Big Lug (via a network of friends) that LO was cheating on him with another boy. Which did happen, by the way, but LO and the Big Lug were not going steady prior to camp so...

Apparently the Big Lug doesn't want to talk to LO. LO is trying to get him back. The boy from camp really likes LO but lives in New Jersey and goes to private school in Delaware.

Teen Drama.

My brother invited LO and I to his beach house half-assedly on Sunday. They'll be on vacation next week. I can only think they gave the nanny off and need help.

I spent my birthday by myself as the week prior was overwhelming and logistics to do something were even moreso. My sister sent me flowers on my birthday, but forgot to leave her name on the card. LO called me from camp. I did get a bottle of the good stuff and a Doner Kebab. And I saw Billy Joel the next day, which was fun and reminded me of growing up in the suburbs of New York City.

LO and I are gonna take an exotic trip later this year to celebrate.

I must get back to procrastinating in the other ways.

I forgot to add this about the date... by yankeehack (2.00 / 0) #2 Wed Aug 13, 2014 at 07:35:30 PM EST
Oh so pre-date googling on the guy's name pulled up a local paper article from 2008 about a woman in the guy's town who runs a bridal shop after an earlier divorce.

In the article, she is remarried to a fella with date's common firstname and very German uncommon last name. Her kids are A, B and J. J's age corresponds with the age the daughter that the date claims, however the spelling/meaning of her name is very different than what her Dad uses.

Now... on the date, he claims that he has been single for over 10 years. And that his ex-wife's name and occupation were different. He did mention he had a "long term relationship" which could have been the bridal shop lady, maybe if he wanted to forget that it was even a marriage. But he said it was only a year or so.

But for everything to square I'd have to assume then the article was entirely fucked up.

I would say that's a fairly safe assumption. by hulver (2.00 / 0) #4 Thu Aug 14, 2014 at 06:16:02 AM EST
When has a news report ever got the details right?

Of all the news reports I've seen where I've got personal knowledge of the incident in question, the answer is zero. Minor and often Major facts completely wrong.

I can't believe The Onion is insinuating that 10% is an inappropriate tip! I'd consider a higher rate if our wages kept pace with inflation.

Long may its thin flakes of meat reign over the semidrunken.

I actually like them enough to eat them sober.
