Not reviewing 2012. It was harsh.
Not making goals for 2013 more complex than survival, I know better than that at the moment.

Nonetheless current state may be regarded as contented.

Switzerland is again regarded as the best place to be born in yet another of these arbitrary studies. This study used to have a sort of 'boredom' penalty which previously had Switzerland lower down the scale and which is now removed. A certain level of societal boredom is quite nice actually. And you hardly ever notice the cuckoo clocks.

Little guy is rampaging. Crawling everywhere, bashing everything, biting everything and frantically trying to stand up. He got five more teeth at Christmas. I got flu. Back to work for a rest now, more or less. We put a gate up on the corridor so the poor cat can have a safe zone.

Christmas was sad as my dad wasn't there to have a long rambling conversation with about the latest Hilary Mantel which would have been likely both our Christmas reading. My mother was...spiky. My jaws ached with suppressed tension by the end.

I should write more I guess but the effort of getting things out of my head is prohibitive at times.

Safe zone for the cat? by wiredog (2.00 / 0) #1 Tue Jan 08, 2013 at 09:39:26 AM EST
The cat my parents had when I arrived was quite capable of enforcing his own safe zone. I learned very early that while the dog would put up with just about anything I did to her, the cat had his dignity and his claws, and that he would not tolerate ear or tail pulling.

Earth First!
(We can strip mine the rest later.)

We have already had bloodshed. But cat is rather elderly and I'd like her to have some peace.
