Today is a company and state/semi-national holiday.  It's also Martin Luther King, Jr Day.

Took Friday off to run some errands.  Had to get a haircut.  Then got my car inspected.  Massachusetts requires that cars have a yearly inspection.  That passed, but I had already dropped $600 on new tires a couple weeks ago.  Then off to order new glasses.  My distance vision hasn't changed, but my near vision has.  So I ordered my first pair of bifocals.  I have a friend who is an optician and gave me a deal on the new specs.  Two sets.  One for work and reading and another for everything else.  Since my distance vision hasn't changed I can also use my current glasses as backups.  My friend gave me a tip that I hadn't know which is to just take a pair of reading glasses and put them on over my regular glasses since they will magnify the close up improve my reading.  Not something I would have thought of.

My wife escorted her mother to California Friday afternoon.  So Friday night was just me and the kids.  She flew back Saturday, so was gone for a little over twenty-four hours round trip.

On Saturday my friends and I went on a brewery tour of a local microbrewery in Connectucutt.  Back East Brewery in Simsbury, CT.  They have a tasting room and tours on Saturdays.  Naturally they have beer for sale at the tasting.  I carried away a very tasty ale in a half-gallon growler.  They suggest drinking it all within a day of cracking it open so that you finish it before it can go flat.  There's a liquor store across the street from my office building, so I can always pick up a bottle on my way home.

Sunday was the NFL Conference Championship games.  San Francisco won their game which was expected.  Baltimore beat the Patriots which was, to me, a coin flip of a game.   As a non-Patriots fan I'm pretty indifferent.

Today we're off to Boston to visit the New England Aquarium again.  My kids love the aquarium.  To me the place is exactly the same as it was when I was ten and visited on a school trip.  Thirty years and practically the same.  I hate the aquarium.

That's about it.  Back to work tomorrow.
