We're buying a house. It's all going rather quickly. The house is a reposession, and the bank selling it is rather anxious to get it's money. They gave us 21 days from offer acceptance to exchange contracts. And they kept the house on the market while everything was going through.
It's a bit of a bargain though. 4 bedroom, detached house on a quiet street.
Almost everything is done. Nearly ready to exchange contracts. The 3 week deadline passed yesterday, but the solicitor is not worried. The local search only came back yesterday, and we posted the final signed documents off yesterday as well.
The house is about 20 years old. The estate it's in freaked me out a little bit when I first saw it. All mock tudor houses everywhere. The house itself needs a fair bit of re-decoration. I think it was last done just after it was built 20 years ago. Painting it won't be a problem, but the flooring is quite horrible. After buying the place, we don't have the money to buy the flooring we want, so we'll just have to live with it while we save up.
We've booked the reception venue, and the wedding venue itself. We've been and registered and answered legal questions. So much planning left to do. Room at the ceremony itself is going to be quite tight, hardly fitting all the family in. The reception afterwards will have plenty of room though.
As we're doing all the planning ourselves, it's going to be interesting. So much to think about. Storing and chilling drinks, plates, glasses, cutlery, tables, clothes, decorations, flowers. Wow.
My brother got married last weekend, and I was his best man. His wedding cost considerably more than ours is going to. So lots of stuff was done for them. It was great. Nicely decorated room for the wedding, nice ceremony, great photographer, great food.
My new SIL had kept the bridesmaids dresses a secret, so I hadn't seen my kids at all in their dresses (D1 and D2 were bridesmaids). Oh wow, they looked so grown up and beautiful. It's a shame that your children aren't as beautiful as mine ;)
I had something in my eye when I first saw them.
Then there were the speeches. I got through mine, although the room was really dusty, which made it difficult to do without having to stop to clear my throat.
I'm quite looking forward to mine now :)
There is no other stuff. My life is currenly consumed with house buying and work. ReboundRabbit is still fantastic and amazing, and I'm so happy with her.
How are you doing?
