Unusual shopping things included "sweets" for the coffee hour at church tomorrow, to the tune of about $30 from the Whole Foods bakery (actually Bread and Circus, according to the label, but I think they acquired, wholly (foods) owned subsidiary, etc. And a bottle of Q-10, which the doc recommends for heart health. Pricey, but I should be set for a couple more months. So a bit of sticker shock, plus the fact that my bottles of whisk[e]y, white, and red wine all ran out (or nearly so) and needed replacing.
The thing about Saturdays is I don't hafta pretend to work, and don't feel bad if nothing of note is accomplished. Win!
So I had enough excess energy to make my mother's cashew casserole recipe tonight, which was tasty. Half a habañero is a bit much for three or four servings. So even though I brought the Tobasco sauce bottle to the table, I didn't use it. And leftovers for a few more days later this week. \o/
And, uh, nap. That's a win.
It's been nice this winter; today it was 45-ish and sunny. So I spent some quality time outdoors with my bathroom waste basket, picking up the styrofoam packing peanuts that drifted in a few weeks ago when it was windy one trash day.
I got a copy of the latest Girlyman album, Supernova, and I like. If you're into close harmonies, get it. It's lots of fun. As you'd expect, the astrophysics leaves a bit to be desired, but it's just the title track. and the music is pretty wonderful.
Also just out is a new Leonard Cohen album. The person who linked me to the advance listen site nailed it: she said his voice has aged well, like old whiskey. He's careful to do with it only what it can do. And, as always, he's a whiz at putting words together and setting them to music.
Also forthcoming, though just in the collecting information stage, is a revision of Kate Bornstein's excellent My Gender Workbook. If you'd like to contribute, check out #MNGW on twitter (that's My New Gender Workbook).
