And it's all thanks to the BBC.

For a long time now over fifteen years in fact, I have been what many people might pejoratively label a 'conspiracy theorist'.

I have an instinctive aversion to and mistrust of all forms of authority. I think this may have been a side effect of my "comprehensive" education at an outer London sink school.

So basically whenever any politician of any shade states anything at all about anything, my immediate reaction is "what is this shady bastard lying to me about now? and what is his/her not-so-hidden agenda"?

As you can probably imagine, as a member of this online community, being one of the few enlightened folk in a herd of sheeple with mediocre minds and no critical thinking skills whatsoever can be quite a lonely path to walk. Sometimes one can feel as though one is the only sane person in the asylum.

Which is why I was so pleased to read the news from that well-respected media outlet the BBC, that the Bilderberg group is nothing more than simply a glorified dinner party.

I had never really thought about it like that before, until the bbc took pains to explain it in layman's terms, I had been content to believe that when hundreds of the globe's top political leaders, oligarchs, media moguls and miscellaneous aristocrats get together behind closed doors, it must be because they have something to hide.

But thanks to the rigorous investigative journalism by the diligent truth-seekers at the BBC, I can now rest easy in my bed.

Q. How foolish do I feel now?
A. Very foolish.

Get out and meet some politicians by marvin (2.00 / 0) #1 Wed Jun 08, 2011 at 08:46:13 PM EST
It will do you good. Seriously.

I`ve gone to barbeques with at least three different provincial cabinet ministers, one of whom I`ve know since I was in high school. None are the conspiracy type. They weren`t dumb, a few actually surprised me with their compentence, but they were exceptional compared to rest of the politicians I`ve met.

Most politicians don`t have enough brains to be lizard people. Unless they act dumb by deception, or are mere proxies for the lizard people who are secretly controlling their minds.

Compared to most municipal politicians I`ve met, I welcome our new Lizard overlords. At least they`ll get shit done and make rational decisions.

Hi. I have a problem. by marvin (2.00 / 0) #4 Thu Jun 09, 2011 at 02:25:22 AM EST
Solutions exist. I refuse to consider them.

Why don't you feel sympathy for me?

Not up for adequacy this week. After reading this, this, and this in the past, I couldn't be bothered to even read the links in this story.

Conspiracies don't do much for me, and I couldn't be bothered to determine whether dmg is trolling, meta-trolling, or (least likely option) actually being sincere today.

Sincerity has it's place. by dmg (2.00 / 0) #23 Thu Jun 09, 2011 at 07:02:22 PM EST
But that place is not the Internet.

A provincial minister's relatively senior. by ambrosen (2.00 / 0) #12 Thu Jun 09, 2011 at 12:21:39 PM EST
They're the level down from the federal government. Although, idyllic though Marvin's town is/appeared to me when I went there, I don't doubt that the city politicians are as mediocre as in any other city of 100,000 people.

Of course by marvin (2.00 / 0) #13 Thu Jun 09, 2011 at 01:00:44 PM EST
I shall take lessons on government from an Italian, whose country truly serves as a model to the world. I beg you, bless me with your knowledge, and show me the shining examples of goverance and Bilderberg-level leadership produced by your country.

Indeed, all of the ignorant and ill-bred savages in the colonies have much to learn from you sophisticated and worldly Europeans.

Our previous premier (Gordon Campbell) regularly attended Bilderberg, and these cabinet ministers worked directly with him. Go learn something about Canada before you start mouthing off about outbacks. The Outback is in Australia.

Well, you said the politicians he knew are dumb by ambrosen (4.00 / 1) #19 Thu Jun 09, 2011 at 02:02:24 PM EST
when he'd already said he was talking about provincial cabinet ministers. I think it's fair to say that if you said that, that shows a pretty shallow view of what Canada is.

Can't take a little sarcasm after delivering a boatload of condescension? Too bad, my heart bleeds for you.

I am shocked that you haven't given me any zeros on my comments yet. You give out more of them than everyone else on this site put together, which to me says that you might be a candidate for a petty and vindictive personality. Why don't you go back into my comment history and mod-bomb me while you're at it.

The sign of a petty and vindictive personality. It is however definitely a sign of "taking the Internet seriously".
