So there you go, a day at DIY and you can have fingers that look like a fourteenth century peasants'.
Summer's over so it's back on the tools again. Just got the hall to finish off and MBW's shoe castille, then I will be
free of the tyranny of DIY about ready to start on the niggle jobs; the light switch that needs a little chasing in so it's flush, the re-sealing of tiles and and and and.
MBW continues to grow, we have our second scan on the morrow and will find out if it's a boy or girl. I'd be a liar if I said I didn't hope for a boy, but really all that counts is that it's got ten and two of the necessaries. MBW has unequivocally (I learnt a new thing today) stated this is the last one, so fingers crossed. It's the OCD pokemon thing more than any expectation of a father / son relationship I think; one of each would be nice, for the collection.
Zurich site visit report - shock of my life when my phone rang in Zurich airport and komet was on the line. Bless his cotton socks, he'd come to meet me at the airport.
We met up with Merekat, I checked into my hotel and then we went to dinner at the armoury in the town centre. komet and Merekat kindly stood me dinner, which was a delicious veal in a creamy mushroom sauce. Merekat also insisted I have the rosti as an accompaniment and she was indeed totally correct. Delicious, and an entertainingly techie conversation to go with it. Although Merekat did confess to buying the Daily Mail.
komet and I bemused the barlady at the pub we repaired to by almost fighting over the drinks bill. After being treated to dinner the least I could do was get the drinks in but komet reminded me I was on his Manor now. Managed to sneak the cash to the barlady though.
It was lamented that the HuSi meets really don't have the same vicious competitive drinking any more; I had a pint and a half and a white wine. And we ate, too. Not quite the same as ten pints of wifebeater and a dirty kebab on the way home.
Zurich is a really, really pretty city and I am hoping to be back for a longer stay for phase II of the project. Great architecture, and wonderfully dramatic mountains. Very expensive though.
A+ would visit again, and thanks to komet and Merekat for showing me around a bit, or m4dpr0ps as we used to say.
I was planning on a little bit about the Labour leadership election result, but I can't put it any better than this.
Labour MPs, go back to your constituencies and prepare for 9 years of opposition.
